14 posts in this topic

Hello i Owen a TVR Tuscan S.

I didn't start it for a year or so.

I swapped the battery for a new one every thing is in a tidy condition, all the oils are checked the car used to work and drive before i parked it.

The lights and ac and radio works but the car will not start , i took it for a Ferrari mechanic he told there is some thing with the security of the car ?

he couldn't fix it ?

Is there is a way to restart it or to fix the security of the car ???

Thanks

 welcome to TSN - sorry to hear you've got car trouble, I'm no expert but from the symptoms and the mechanics comments he may be talking about a problem with the imobiliser system - which would normally need a main dealer to resolve +++

Where are you based, do you have a local dealer/specialist?

Thanks for the reply guys....

I am located in the hottest boring country in the world Saudi Arabia ,

I guess i am the only TVR over here and there is no dealer in the middle east and no cars like it .

I tried some thing today and it kinda almost started !

I disconnected the security sistem and plug it back again the fuse number m36 it looks like a black small box .

the car now cranks but does not start,

it didn't even crank befor i did that !

the car only has 6000 km. it's kinda new !

I checded everything twice.

I think it's i stupid thing that i didn't notice ? any suggestions ?

So not too many TVR dealers in Saudi Arabia, thats a bit of a pain - I'm not sure what to suggest...?

Could be worth putting a call into a UK Dealer and asking if they can give you a clue? Good news is they're creatures of habit and while they tend to go wrong, they're quite simple and so if you describe the symptoms they can probably give you a clue that you could take to your own mechanic?

Try The TVR Centre +++

Bad habits! ;)

@saudi - are you ****ting me? You must have had some special aircon put on it? My TVR was too hot in the UK in summer! :o

Anyhow, does it have an aftermarket imbolizer fitted? I think mine had to have a thatcham one just so i could get insured.

A "firm slap to the underside of the passenger dash" might work. Read this:

hi there i may be able to help you... do you have a black plastic key that came along with your car?

its usually kept along side your car keys

ok try this... in your car there should be a tiny red light the blinks when you lock the car .right next to the blinking red light there is a little hole where the plastic key fits. insert the plastic key there and a red light should turn on. you have now ten seconds to start the car. It should start now if you dont start it in ten seconds , do it again.

if your remote works, you dont need to do that. just unlock your car and get in. insert your regular key and press the button on the key for a second and then try to start it within ten seconds of pressing the button on your key.

I hope that works...

If not... reply here and we'll try something else

 cheers Ozz and welcome to TSN - is your solution something to do with the imobiliser? +++

something of that sort... not sure exactly as there is more to the immobiliser than that... but this usually does the trick.
