VW dealers con artists!!!

hello folks this is more of a rant really and also to see if anyone has had similar experiences.

i have recently had a service on my passat tdi 2002 estate.

i was told i had a 2x seized calipers and also i needed pads front and rear discs and pads.

i have also got a water leak on both off side doors.

so they charged me a diagnostic fee for the water leak and told me i need 2 seals for both off side doors(which took them ages to find out) . so the price to sort all this was huge so i sought an alternative.

i found a mechanic who is ex vw and knows what he is on with so???

no seized calipers and no need for rear discs or pads for another 12 months.

front pads ok.

but the best thing is that my door seals are good and there is a possible problem inside the doors with a seal.

honestly VW charge me £100 to tell me utter bo*****s i cant believe they get away with total lies and i cant help thinking all those people who dont know better and let VW do all this phantom work.

anyway i think i have ranted on enough.

so is this just me???

VW dealerships are w**kers! and ones that like to take your money for wasting time. the plymouth dealership refused to talk on the phone, regarding an oil sludge problem - officially recognised by VW with extended warrenty on vehicles with FSH and receipts to prove 6000mile oil changes.

i went down there against my better judgement, and spoke to a mechanic (not in the garage, on the forecourt) who told me that i had been mis-lead and the car would need a service with them to ensure the problem that i had thought up wasnt there...so i declined and was then told that if i continued to drive my car in the current state the engine and turbo would suffer severe and terminal damage!

funny how as soon as they think they are going to lose a sale, the problem becomes real, or they start to "remember" the issue. he then dropped into the equation that their hourly rate was £70 +VAT...unreal!!!!!

common theme occuring i think...dont go back to the dealership, go to a specialised german car garage; or a garage that you trust.

Main Stealer...... Not worth talking to unless your buying a new VW, Even then they are Wan*ers. Im in plymouth and use Phil Davies a VW Specialist, uses genuine parts or the best pattern parts poss and a great service. my car is alsways clean inside and no grubby marks on wheels or body work.

Find yourself a good local specialist, you might pay a little more than a normal garage but you wont pay as much as main stealer and the stamp in the service book is just as good.

Interestingly, just had my 2003 TDI 130 serviced at Leicester Volkswagen and I got a huge discount because my car is getting old.

I usually do the brakes myself anyway as it's a nice sort of job that me and my lad can do in the garage and have a bit of a laugh.

Not all stealers steal and not all independents are cheap. I was ripped off good and proper when I had the timing belt changed in Market Harborough. 'Nuff said.
