Cupramax
Nope its easy, remove two big hex bolts on the cross member above the lights and one down each side which you just need to loosen. Headlight then slides out.

maersk
November 2004 on:- Removing and installing headlights Removing– Remove front bumper cover :ffs: – Remove bolt -3-.– Loosen bolts -1- and -2- a few turns but do NOT unscrew completely.– Remove headlight from body towards front. InstallingInstallation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:– Check adjusting nut -1- of adjuster for freedom of movement -arrows-.– Screw down adjusting nut as far as it will go, but do not tighten. – Insert headlight and screw in bolts -1 ... 3- two complete turns.– Install front bumper cover → Rep. maersk
Is that 'cos its a Cab.?
PetrolDave
Cabs stayed with the B6 design for sometime before changing to the B7. The easiest way to tell is look at the headlight shape - if it's like a B6 saloon/Avant then you DON't need to remove the bumper if it's like the B7 (all curvy) then you do - at least that's what I reckon. Cupramax
Is that 'cos its a Cab.? Why the A b7 front end is a b7 front end, the cab is no different unlike the B6
PetrolDave
Why the A b7 front end is a b7 front end, the cab is no different unlike the B6 The drawing you've posted above is for a B6, but the B7 has part of the headlamp that is behind the bumper cover so you cannot remove the headlamp on a B7 without at least loosening and dropping the bumper cover. ivor2
nearly certain the bumper has to come off if you want to fully remove the lights , forward thinking in car design?
PetrolDave
nearly certain the bumper has to come off if you want to fully remove the lights , forward thinking in car design? A symptom of the B7 being a facelift of the B6 - the B6 was designed for ease of build and repair, but the B7 lost that in the name of style... sc00byd00byd00
More to the point, how do you remove the front bumper ???? :ffs::ffs:
gats0man
You can get all the needed bolts loosened and removed easy enough - it is the shape of the headlamp itself which makes it so you have to remove the bumper cover. The lights themselves curve downwards at the bottom so when you tug at the lamp it catches on the plastic . Removing the front bumper looks like a nightmare though - check out AudiWorld Tech Articles
M7R
there ios no way the light comes out with the bumper in place, its too deep behind the bumper to come out to remove the front bumper its a bit of a chore but do able... remove the under tray then remove the arch liners then you will see on the drivers side 2 bolts going up into the wing, one close to the arch the other closer to the bumper, then there are 2 nuts to remove from the studs at the front that face you, same on the other side, but the waher bottle has to be un bolted and pulled out of the way. there is also bolts on the slam pannel and i think in where the fog lights are iirc (been a while since I did this...) the majority are torques T20 iirc....but dont hold me to that.. then the bumper unclips and slide forward... then the lights can be slid out.
