Recession: my VW dealer's started to sell and service Skodas!!!

22 posts in this topic

Took the car in for its 3rd year service and MOT on Tuesday.

Dismayed to find that my long-standing VW dealer is now selling and servicing SKODAS!

Three of those odd-ball "Favorite" car in pride of place on the forecourt, next to an R32, GTI and a Phaeton!

I'm very disappointed ..... ..... :-(

I don't know if I can face seeing my car on the ramp in a bay next to where a SKODA is being serviced!!!

What is going on?

What's up with a Skoda then?

I doubt you've seen a Favorit on the forecourt, do you mean Fabia or Octavia?

It would have been interesting to see if they charged the same price for your service as for the Octavia vRS.

As shark_90 said nothing wrong with Skodas nowadays.

Have a look at the engineering on the new Superb.

My local Audi recently became a VW Approved Service Centre. I'm sure Audi owners have the same respect for VW as you have for Skoda:roflmao:

bloody badge snob. Skoda's aren't what they used to be. I think you'll find they are just as well put together as your VW!! Cheers

I find it quite amusing that the OP only has a VW in the first place!! It's not exactly a Maybach!!

CupraBob, "My local Audi recently became a VW Approved Service Centre."

That's very interesting.

We have a very new "state-of-the-art" Audi dealership that opened about a year ago near us, I'll pay them a visit soon.

It's also interesting to note that around 1990 VW-Audi made a huge effort to split up the VW and Audi part of the business. Apparently people like me did not like to have their car being serviced in the same workshop as a van or truck!

It seems they are going back to where they were - what a waste of money.

What car is it you own again? I mean it must be a Ferrari or something for you to be this much of a badge snob, either that or you are an utter cock.

This "Skoda" guy has owned 5 Audis (still owns one) and 2 VWs, and the Skoda was the best choice for the money this time around. Sorry to disappoint you, but it's just a Golf GTi with a bigger boot for less money. Go figure +++

How's the vRS going with the full turbo-back Milltek, Shark? What software did you opt for? Revo?

It's going very well. Car was already Revo'd when I bought it (not that I knew!) but maybe changing the code for something else soon (watch this space). The difference with the Milltek is pretty substantial with no change to the mapping, very impressed with that.

I was totally in love with my old B6 A4 (the silver one) and I still miss it, but I am more and more impressed with the Skoda every time I drive it +++

I really don't see a problem myself.

Well apart from Skodas reliability standings in surveys will prob suffer due to it. :P

I wouldn't want the underclass likes of you and your car in my Audi dealer. :P

Nothing wrong with Skodas' or VWs for that matter. Octavia Estate is a sensible family car and much cheaper than an A4.

My mate is Sales Director of a VW dealer and they had 2 Skoda's on the forecourt,

Who care's as long as they stick with VAG hopefully next time I go there they may have a Murchalargo and Veyron there.

Anyway the main reason for it is there is a huge lack of 2nd hand stock at the moment across the UK.

Go to your local stealer and check to see how quiet the forecourt is looking VAG dealers only mind.

Guys guys guys, no feeding after Easter, come on, everyone knows that!

On a side note I saw a Mk 4 Escort at my Honda dealers the other day, I was almost reduced to tears. :(

That shoiuld be seen as a good thing. Some poor bugger has finally seen the light and traded the Escort in for a good car +++
