wsurfa
my 1998 4.2 Q cut out several times at the weekend. I was on a motorway doing a steady 70, and the engine just died. All electrics seemed fine, and I could restart the engine immediately. It happened again a few minutes later, and then was fine for another few hours. Has any one had something similar happen? Any ideas to what caused it? thanks Iain
Tiny12
Hi I had somthing very similar, but would not restar (however did a few days later) but would cut out after a few minutes http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-a8-s8/119058-i-have-very-sick-a8.html it ended up being the fuel pump.... sloss
I'd agree the fuel pump would be the main suspect. Get the vehicle on VAG Com and see what errors it throws up. The pump is buried in the tank and accessable through the boot floor. Search on here for lots more on Fuel Pumps and how to. If it turns out to be the pump and you intend to do the work yourself please remember you will be working with extremly volatile fuel - this is the one time I make sure the battery is disconnected..... wsurfa
thanks guys - I'll mention to the guy who services it next week. He'll VAG it and see what comes up. I hope it's not too expensive, as my bike service today was £400 cheers Iain
