Cars to drive before you die...

I've always fancied a blast in the following...

Honda NSX (manual of course), I know they're short on power, but the engine note and balance really appeal.

Original Mini Cooper, y'know, last of the old ones on about an 'N' plate. Have driven earlier stuff (ancient 1275gt being the best), but I fancy a bounce down some b-roads in one.

Porsche 959. My 'pin-up' as a kid, 200+ mph, awesome.

Audi Quattro. I'm sure the 4-ring anoraks in here know which one I mean, the 80's rallystar with short wheelbase and a turbo-kick like being struck by a planet.

How about you ?

Porsche 959 - my pin up car as a youngster

Lotus Carlton (Driven one when I was 20, but I'd like another go to see if it really is as balistic as I remember)

Lancia Thema 8.32 - just out of curiousity

My Cousins Escort Cosworth - he worked for cosworth and rebuilt it +++

Brabus Rocket (S Class version if they do one) - limo luxury and insanity in one mad, mad package.

Bugatti Veyron - just because.

McLaren F1 - because it's the ultimate antithesis to the Veyron.

Works Audi Quattro S2 Group B - the short wheelbase 600bhp+ monster that Hannu Mikkola drove in the mid 80s that was so fecking loony it usually melted before the end of the country house spectator stages on day 1 of the RAC!

1968 Dodge Charger 500GT, just to see what 500 cubic inches of pig iron feels like.

1962 Ferrari 250 California, because it's the most beautiful car in the world.

Corvette C6.R in Le Mans spec, cos it's my favourite track car in the world.

And loads of others. :P

Do I take it we get to borrow a decent race track and/or the Top Gear airfield too?

I'm much more of a modern car man myself so I have to go with the boring and obvious:

Veyron - Just to feel the beast.

Vantage V12 - I want one. I want one. I want one. I want one. [REPEAT UNTIL IT BECOMES A REALITY]

Ferrari 612 - Don't think it's a massively attractive car but would love to enjoy some luxury cruising in one.

Maserati Gran Turismo - Looks, sound mmm...

Shelby Cobra - The one old car that i'd really love to drive but am genuinely afraid that if I drove it i'd kill myself. 427 cubic inches of fun. More than any man should even handle. :o

Shelby Mustang - Again an old one but something about that raw american grunt (feck the corners) that appeals.

<geek> Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the 500 in Charger 500 didn't equate to 500cu in. The 440 Magnum was standard and the 426 Hemi (worth a fortune today) was optional.

The 440 is 'only' 7.2l :roflmao:

Quickest way to 500 cu in is a Viper SRT10 (505) </geek>

Depends on when and where.

Coming over the mountains down into Monaco a 246 Dino or a Daytona.

Generally a Macca F1

On a circuit an F1 Car. I really like the old 70's Tyrells or the Andretti JPS cars but for the pinacle it would have to be either a current F1, a Brawn or Fezza.

You've had some cracking stuff over the years John +++

I've been a lucky boy, mostly all Italian stuff with a few Japs (mr2 turbo, GTR).

All thanks to my best mates dad being Italian and a higly respected Ferrari mechanic, and having a garage full of exotica, and always getting interesting cars in as Px's, which I bought off him cheap(ish). Some of the stuff I've driven is amazing too, some fantastically rare cars, and the unforgettable Testarossa.

I've got tons of photos stashed in the loft somewhere, I'll have to get them out and scanned into the computer at some point.
