jhal
hi all, my 06 GTI is nearing service time. i would normally have had her serviced at the dealers. however, having had it recently mapped, and the mapper showing me some stuff that the dealer never cleared after the last service, well its left me unsure about them. the non-dealer is a pro performance shop, however i have not heard anything about some of the items they will be using and was wondering if anyone here might have some reviews, good and bad. they use miller oils, ITG air filters and endless brake pads, NGK plugs. its a 60K service. any info would be appreciated. thanks. JonC
ITG filters are regarded as one of the best performance filters in the market (and one of the priciest) with a thoroughbred racing heritage. NGK plugs are also highly regarded. Can't comment on the oil or pads, though
jhal
cool cheers, they did mention that about the ITG filters, however they would ;-) thanks for the info.

Tarmac_Terrorist
Are you having the cam belt & water pump replaced too? If not done I should think that it's now due at 60k
jhal
i rang a dealer, and they mentioned it to me, that it needs to be done at 60K, the book says 80k though. after all the questions below, ill be getting it done at the dealer now, as the TB needs to be replaced. thanks for all the info though. mooch
Jhal, dont know where you arem but there are a couple of indies that could do thta for you and at half the price. They both have tip top reputations...... Unit20 neston, Liverpool (grizz- who has done all my work) or MRC truning at Banbury, again a highly trusted specialist. A google search will reveal all..... jhal
hey mooch, im in the south of ireland, i use a dealer in NI for servicing etc. they are about 40-50% cheaper then down south ...! thanks for the info though. i would have used the local guy, however as its the TB, i dont know, call me old fashioned, but i just feel happier getting it done in a main dealer. mooch
Ah, Neston and Banbury are quite a way away then! Thats unedrstandable with the TB, I was going to get Audi top do mine until they wanted to charge £1500, without the pulleys tensioners and water pump that should be done when you do a TB on these, things, alos asked them for a price to include a 20K service....... Are you ready for this......... £4750.00. Grizz at unit 20 did the lot, plus some Phaeton cooling ducts and a set of Forge DV's for £1500! That was my first trip to see him, and I was a bit concerend, but I have to say, that all parts were OEM and the guy was/is just ace on these cars- he has an RS6 of his own, so...he knows them inside out, and besides, the £3k i svaed i spent on a map and milltek!
