Good old Bernie - always trying to juggle where he can keep various govts keen and forking out the money...

In an interview with the magazine 'Motorsport Aktuell', Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone says that he is planning a race at Spa-Francorchamps every two years. In the same interview, Ecclestone confirms that the Canadian GP will return to the F1 calendar in 2010.

No way should Spa only be run every other year - it's the best circuit on the calendar.

I'd be interested to see what's in the new Concorde agreement about circuits, as one of the big sticking points for FOTA was the move away from the car manufacturer's main markets in Europe and North America towards the Far East. Apart from the mention of Canada, we could be forgiven for thinking that nothing's changed.

Bernie is also possibly the only person to announce a deal has happened before it actually has simply due to his belief in his own deal-making abillities.

I believe the mayor of Montreal is less impressed by the thought the motor race Bernie is flogging him will actually bankrupt the town: for some reason Bernie can't figure out why they shouldn't think it's a great deal.

The man is an egregious, cro-magnon, capitalist arsewit.
