gkb
Hello all. I own a Mk 5 golf. A few days ago I drove the car to the supermarket, and parked it up to do my shopping. When I got back, and put the key in ; the ESP had turned itself off – the ESP “Off” light is illuminated in the button to disable/enable it, and the yellow dashboard light showing the car skidding is illuminated. Pressing the disable/enable button does not turn the ESP back on. I have tried taking the key out, leaving it overnight and so forth, but the ESP is still off. Is there anything I can do to fix this without a trip to the garage? Also, what would cause this? Any advice would be appreciated.
kite
Could be a faulty ABS sensor. You will need a fault scan to what the problem is...
Matt R
This sounds like pretty bad news for you I'm afraid. My money is on it being a failed abspump/control unit. They are failing pretty regular now for cars over 3 years old. If you have Full maindealer history, you will get goodwill on it, If not you are looking at around £1000 to fix. Cuprabob
My R32 did this a few times at the beginning of the year intemittently. Took it to the dealer but it didn't log a fault and they couldn't find anything wrong. It's never came back (touch wood)
