Leather Rear Centre Headrest

11 posts in this topic

One of my friends at work has recently bought a second hand GTI (red of course) and the centre head rest at the back was missing. He's been to the dealer about getting a replacement and has been quoted £215!

Does anyone know of anywhere which would be able to provide one either second hand or new at a lower price?

It's a MkV GTI with black leather (anthracite?)

Thanks in advance.

....

:roflmao:

I'm laughing because I found one when tidying up my bedroom recently and at first wondered what on earth it was. I removed mine because it restricts my rear view when driving. But mine is 'cloth' not leather.

He drives the way a man your age should drive so I don't think he's too concerned about the rear visibility, he'll do 20 checks before pulling out anyway... ;)

Only joking Adrian in case you come along and read this... +++

I'm always as focussed as I possibly can be on rear visibility and have recently installed an aftermarket wide panoramic rear view mirror.

stooH - tell him to do a search on ebay for "breaking Mk5 Golf GTI" or similar. He'll get a decent one for next to nothing +++

Most breakers wont split a complete leather interior, but it's always worth asking!

Does anyone know if that centre headrest has anything special on it for the gti? Or would any golf or even vw(?) leather centre headrest do?

....

I just checked mine (06-build, 05-plate) - Nothing on it whatsoever, unlike the main seat headrests. Mine's cloth not leather.

My GTI centre headrest had nothing on it. The drivers and front passenger's headrests do but not the centre back one from memory :)

Well that should make it easier, just need to find a Golf with leather interior which is being broken rather than a GTI. I wonder if all recent VW's have the same style and fitting system?

I should imagine they are. I'd be very surprised if they weren't +++
