ABS light on

2 posts in this topic

I arrived home from work yesterday, drove down my street which had a layer of snow on it, put car in reverse to back onto the driveway but couldn't get any traction. Tried with ESP on and off but no use. I spun the wheels for a bit - gave it a few beans but nothing excessive. Suddenly there was a warning beep and the ABS light came on. Now when I turn the engine on, ABS light is permanently lit. Anyone got any ideas? Is it just a case of taking it to dealer to get a reset? Not sure why the ABS would be affected as I was trying to accelerate not brake (?!). Car is a MK4 GTI Anni 1.8T.

(Ended up getting a shovel and removing the snow from under the wheels before reversing -wish I'd done that in the fecking first place!)

Finally managed to get the car off the drive and up the street cos of all this bleedin snow. Got onto 'normal' roads and, to my delight, the ABS light went out.
