The New Smoke

36 posts in this topic

Thnaks to Matt R i am the proud owner of a new black roccy. It was waiting for me by the time i got to the office this morning and never got to drive it until i left a couple of hours ago. sitting in wait was close to hell but now ive done 30 miles i know what its like, and its rapid! Not a million miles of an e46 m3 i would have thought? Great little car that although sounds more like a hoover than a mk4 r32 would show it an easy set of heels.

Probbaly wait a couple of weeks and then get the BDM 330 conversion.

That's rather nice. I like the Scirocco, quite a classy looking thing.

Looks great, wasn't sure about them at first but its a grower of a car, nice and interesting and looks way way better than the Golf that just looks boring to my eyes.

I would bud but bdm are looking after the rs as well now so if I did zoom her up it would make sense to do it all in one place. They are closer too :)

Like that Wopps +++

Needs dropping by about 20mm and you're there.

But surely you could cram a few more buttons on that steering wheel.... :P

The more Sciroccos I see the more I like them.

Especially in white, but that's decidedly less stealthy than black!

What engine is in this one then?

Are they the same as used in the Golf? Forgive my ignorance.

yep 265 at the moment. really is rather quick. never had a turbo car before, it really suits what i want it for, very chuffed.

leaves the rs to have a mad track geo and my third set of tyres :ffs:

So, is it marginally slower than the equivalent engined Golf? I really don't know my figures these days, but didn't the Golf have a higher power to weight ratio?

Whatever it is, I really like the look of the car.

the roccy is lighter as is only fwd rather than 4wd. should be quicker too really with that in mind.

Golf R is quoted at 270PS whereas the Rocco R is 265PS but that wouldn't make up for the extra weight in the Golf de to the Hadex etc..

Not sure if he power difference between the 2 models is real or whether it's marketing to keep the Golf the "flagship" model.

well bdm stage 2 takes it to 330bhp. i may be tempted ;)

That would make it very rapid although you might go through tyres just as fast as you do on the RS+++

I looks really good in black. Only sen a silver one in the flesh and to be honest didn't do it justice.

Aha, I didn't realise it was 2WD.

Why do I seem to think you can't get xenons on a Scirocco, have I read that somewhere and is it still (or was it ever) correct? I'd still always pick a Scirocco over a Golf. It's just a much nicer looking car.
