eldavo69
Hopefully Tipex will approve of the subject matter as not being too boring The paintwork is very soft so after 7 years and 40k miles it looked like this: But it came up pretty damn well, 50:50 using mainly Menz 106FA on a Megs polishing pad: The finished article, waxed with Zymol Concours:
Tipex
Hopefully Tipex will approve of the subject matter as not being too boring It's not the subject I find boring, I enjoy looking at these threads, it's actually doing the detailing (or valeting in real world non pretentious speak) I find boring. See now, that's a fezza that now looks great, but a fecking Mitsubishi Charisma? Or some other dull as dishwater generic vehicle, why would you bother? Milo
Looks like it never turned more 3/4 of a wheel when it was being cleaned. Bet part of the discs were rusty
eldavo69
Is that Gosforth/Great Park? Yup, that is where I live after all! Discs were rusty Milo, it moved exactly half a wheel rotation (probably a quids worth of fuel) Fergy: rotary all the way, even the bumpers (although I used a polish that works well at lower speeds to keep the heat down) Edited July 27, 2010 by eldavo69
steelwind101
The Megs polishing pad is pretty good! Follow up with the pad i used in my post, in conjunction with either your 106FA or even better, 85RD you will be able to bring up a good gloss, layer of glass like finish from that polished look. Shame no afters of the polishing action but it looks nice and reflective. Edited July 28, 2010 by steelwind101
eldavo69
Actually, the first 2 finished pics are pre-wax but I couldn't be bothered editing the post. Thanks for the suggestions but you're preaching to the converted. It also says what I mainly used to correct the paintwork, most people aren't interested in every polish and pad combo used hence I left them out. steelwind101
Ok! I did not know these were for money, i thought it was your own car ! Nice. Well in that case give whatever they pay for!
eldavo69
Yup, a paying hobby as it were. The guy whose car it is needed it doing in a day and wanted an acceptable level of correction with room to redo it when necessary as it is his daily driver at the moment.
