Can anyone help my 2001 civic type r timing chain has slipped!!!

2 posts in this topic

hi i turned my 2001 ctr off and on when it was cold twice to turn the steering over and it wouldnt start again. so after many hours diagnosing the problem i checked the timing and the chain had slipped 4 teeth. The chain doesnt seem stretched and the engine was completely silent before with no chain rattle etc. Does anyone no what could of caused this? ive only owned it for 3 days!!! conf.gifconf.gif

thanks

It may have been caused by the timing belt tensioner being too lose. Check it out on the belt side, lower down from the cam pulleys there should be a rubber protector that you can pull off from the black plastic cover. Once pulled off, it should reveal the tensioner bolt.

I havent worked on a Honda for a good few years now so trying to go off what i can remember really.

Good luck fixing it though. I used to hate the EP civics but they certainly have grown on me.+++
