Sponge
Anybody seen this website before? Audi-Offers - Servicing Some of the prices a cheaper than those stated on the Audi website. Audi-Offers is fulfilled by the family owned Vindis Group, established in 1960. With Audi dealerships in Cambridge, Bedford, Huntingdon and Northampton, Vindis Group is one of the larger vehicle retailers nationally, offering Sales and Aftersales facilities for the full Audi range. Not much good for me as far as actually using them to do the work (I'm too far away); but I thought I could use their prices to negotiate with my local dealer. Major Service includes: oil change oil filter change health and safety check air filter fuel filter (if diesel) spark plugs (if petrol) Interim service includes: oil change oil filter change health and safety check. Sponge
I've just had a word with the Audi specialist (that happens to be next door to the guy that fitted my tyres this morning) and he confirmed his price for a cambelt @ £250 and wants £140 for a full service. So all in, that would be £390. Less than what Audi would charge for just the cambelt. I need to add £50 to the equation as at the moment my car has an Audi service history so I get MOTs free. So, specialist - £440; Audi - £668. Hmm...Audi would need to knock of the best aprt of £200 for me to consider using them.
MrAvant
Im tempted to let National Tyres do the Oil and Filter for £35 all in this year and thats using the proper Castrol Oil. My main concern is that they use a Unipart Oil Filter but looking at the other prices around i am very tempted. They have been changing my vans Oil and Filter for years without any issues. They have been changing my vans Oil and Filter for years without any issues. You could just buy the genuine filter from dealer / TPS and then tell NT to fit that one instead of their own one. You might need to take their one and bin it to keep their stock sytem right. For an extra £10 or so, it would be worth it for piece of mind
MrAvant
I did ask if i could do that and they said they are not able to fit something that i provide due to their gurantee implications.

Cuprabob
Unipart are a reputable brand so I would say yes, but only you can make that decision

Sponge
So much for fixed price servicing. I've been getting prices for a cambelt change and they're varying wildly between dealers. Audi's website quotes cambelt @ £399. My local dealer has confirmed this as their price. They actually said it was '...on offer @ £399.00 all inclusive...' They also quoted the Poly v belt and water pump are additional @ £122.04 all inclusive. So £521. I've been known to drive a fair distance if the price is right and have been to Stafford Audi before. They sell on ebay and are offering cambelt & tensioner for £275. Whilst on ebay I found Lincoln Audi are doing Cambelt (Including Tensioners), Water Pump and Auxillary Belt for £399. It's made all the harder to compare as they're including different parts, but on the whole, prices seem to be negotiable, but not at my local dealer.
MrAvant
I called around for a Cambelt, tensioner and waterpump change and had vaied prices. Like you said Stafford Audi quoted £275 + £100 for waterpump but that was just too far so i started looking closer to home. I called my local Stealer and told them about staffords offer and the best they could do was £420 all in. Still not satisfied i looked around and just sround the corner from the in-laws house is a company called VAG Tech in Milton Keynes. Now i have read good things about them so i decided to call, they quoted £380 all in so i decided to kill two birds with one stone, get the car done and visit the in-laws. Its booked in around 2 weeks time. Shall let you know how it goes.
Milo
My turn to get quotes for the cambelt etc today as my car is 5 year old in September. This is what I want doing: Free MOT Coil pack replacement under VAG recall/workshop notice Service + pollen filter (no plugs/air filter due to the low mileage) Cam belt replacement Brake fluid change Replace rear wiper All in, £500. It was £519 and despite pushing as much as I could, the best they could do was knock off the £19 The fixed prices on their website for the cambelt + service + brake fluid come to £600 and the pollen filter and wiper add another £40ish, I don't think £500 is too bad. They said they could do the cam belt on its own for £299. I also have the option of getting the ribbed belt and belt tensioner replaced for an additional £130. They're actually advising against getting it done saying it's not necessary however it's always had a cold start squeak which annoys the feck out of me. Milo
Oddily enough, that quote was not from my usual dealer who have failed to get back to me. I've sent them an email with details of the quote I have received; hopefully they can beat it......

I've sent them an email with details of the quote I have received; hopefully they can beat it And maybe they can't; the same lad I spoke to from one Audi centre, picks up the emails to all the group's service centre mailboxes so he just received an email asking if he could beat his own quote we agreed on this morning That was a bit awkward
Milo
My turn to get quotes for the cambelt etc today..... I had my car done yesterday and for a fixed price of £600 I got: Free MOT Coil pack replacement under VAG recall/workshop notice Service + pollen filter Cam belt replacement Belt tensioner Alt belt replacment Brake fluid change Replace rear wiper Plus car valeted inside and a nice tin of sweets left on the seat. All done as agreed and a nice 2.0TFSI TT to play with for the day and they even waived the mileage charge for it. My only gripe was the MOT was done first and although it passed, they rang to advise the the headlight washer jets were not working. They offered to 'run a diagnostic check' for £75 to try and find the fault. I pointed out the car would be going on VCDS anyway as part of the other work so could they not just read the fault code if there was one and advise the cost of repair but they wouldn't move. What they were asking for was £75 to tell me what the fault code was, assuming there is one. Now if they had said they knew what the fault was and it was £75 to fix it, I would have said go ahead. But as it is, I'll hopefully get it scanned myself and get an independant to do the repair.

Best part of 5 minutes and the fact that they would still have found it with the preceding works. Utter rogues! A necessary evil but I hate dealers most times. Milo
Seriously!! Are these guys for real? Best part of 5 minutes and the fact that they would still have found it with the preceding works. Utter rogues! A necessary evil but I hate dealers most times. Yup, not impressed. It wasn't the tech's fault though, as I know who worked on it as I requested him. It was picked up by the MOT tester, who flagged it up to the service desk, who rang before the other worked was started. It was obviously a case of 'computer says £75' and to be fair to them, the only time I've had an issue with any of the service work. The dealership is 20 miles from me and I drive past another one on my doorstep to get to it as I have had nothing but good experiences with the sales and service. I can understand them charging £75 to someone who rolls up on their doorstep asking for help but when the car is in for £600 of work, will already be hooked up to VCDS and they know the customer returns every year, I think it's a bit of a cheek. I even let them charge me twenty something quid for a new rear wiper blade as I'm so lazy!
eldavo69
I discussed this with Leigh last night. Apparently there isn't diagnostics on the headlight washers so VAS wouldn't bring anything up anyway. It's a bumper-off job to sort out. Will text you re: cruise too.
