I guess even if you still have full no claims, there is still a claim on the record that goes against you. If they find the scrote they should make him pay for your insurance for the next five years.

I would rather they caught fire than paid my insurance over the next 5 years

Had a call from the police this morning (woke me up, the buggers). Car was found last night in the Hampton area.

They need the keys (which are with the insurers) but some of my personal stuff might be in the car still by all accounts. Hope there is plenty of forensic evidence to catch the cnuts.

Anything more about it? Presume they knew from the chassis # it was your old one?

Nah the guy didn't say much, and I was half asleep, will ask more if he calls back. You would assume it must be on dodgy plates?

I'd think so - or maybe they raided a known lockup or something.

If all your stuff is still in the car, might mean they haven't done much with it.

Would you want it back though? Or would the insurance company keep it, now they've paid out?

If the insurance company have paid out, then it's theirs, minus any personal stuff. They might ask if you want to buy it back off 'em at a reduced price. Having read the first post on this, I assumed it had been taken for export or broken for spares, if they're recovered it then it had probably been used as a getaway car.

The main thing is, DHA, that you're OK. +++

I don't want it back, I miss it, but it would be a b1tch to sell on. Unless they will let me buy it for £5!

But as insurance have paid out then I have no claim on the car.

Wonder how long it has been there for? 3 months is a long time for a car to be recovered after, you'd think.
