330dcoupe
Torres has asked to leave liverpool for Chelsea. Can't say I blame him, mind. One of the finest strikers in the World is being wasted at Liverpool. Looks like Suarez will be replacing him. It might actually work at better for them - As Suarez is very much in the mould of Torres. He's younger too.
NewNiceMrMe
That's not technically true. He has put in a written transfer request. That's all. As for Suarez v Torres. One is unproven and the other is world class. Liverpool haven't bought Suarez to replace Torres. They wanted both and this request is very bad news for them. I don't see how the possibility of losing a world class striker and gaining a largely unproven one can work out better for them when they don't have any other world class players barring Gerrard. NewNiceMrMe
Konchesky has gone to Notts Forest on loan. Ayala has gone to Derby. Lot's happening at Liverpool today.
m4ttm4son
Suarez in for £23m, Torres out for £50m sounds like good business. If they can bring in some other faces for the £27m they might end up in the top half of the table. I'm hoping Torres doesn't though. Chavs with Torres scares me. NewNiceMrMe
Liverpool have bid £30m for Andy Carroll.
DHA
Carroll is not worth that!
NewNiceMrMe
It's a big bid, but for his age and potential I'd say he is worth it. It'll be a huge test for Newcastle to see if they reject it. Redknapp admitted they'd rejected £23m from Spurs but £30m is a full price and if they sell him it won't go down well. I expect to see it rejected.
m4ttm4son
Carroll will never leave Newcastle until he's about 26 and the best striker in England when he'll go to Man U for £35m.
NewNiceMrMe
Confirmed by NUFC. Received a bid of £30m from Liverpool and have immediately rejected it.
NewNiceMrMe
Stephen Ireland at St James Park for a medical. Shame that, because it means we might see his cars adorning the roads around here soon. It's said to be a done deal.
Milo
Loan or permanent? It was going to be a loan originally. Liverpool have had a £30M bid for Andy Carroll turned down. Maybe Ashley has grown a pair after all.
Waylander
Naa - I think there were strong rumours of Spurs also coming in for him so want us to get into a bidding war. £30M was nuts in the first place IMO but rejecting it.... I have heard that there is incentive to spend the money now from Torres anyway before the Financial Fair Play Rules kick in in summer. £42.8M was the fee I heard as well for him. (Aguero is signing a new contract at Athletico today no doubt with a much higher release fee!)

Spurs had an offer turned down last week apparently. Carroll himself has rejected a move to Liverpool saying it would be a step backwards.
NewNiceMrMe
Waylander, don't underestimate how good Carroll is. He is a top class striker and I'd put him above Suarez in respect of potential. There wasn't a big clamour for Suarez from other clubs - there is for Carroll. Spurs, Liverpool and United have all shown interest at some point (and City I think) - and they've done that for a reason. If Liverpool had got him for £30m I'd have said you'd be singing his praises much higher than Suarez in the near future.
bfc1912
£30m for Carroll is nuts. He might be young but he's unproven at International and European level and has only had half a season in the premiership. I also feel that he's one of these lads that is Newcastle through and through. If he goes somewhere else he'll stay living in Newcastle and his form will really suffer. He'll be a much better player at Newcastle than anywhere else.
billy2shots
40mil plus anelka would meat torres 50million buy out clause. Wouldn't be surprised if le sulk turned them down for what happened years ago when Liverpool didn't buy him after they said they would when he was on loan there (same as the tevez situation at utd). If he turns them down I could see cash and sturrage.
m4ttm4son
I don't think Anelka wants to go anywhere else. Looks like he has a cushtie life with no pressure on being a main striker. If the chavs have any sense they'll offload Sturridge, but so far they keep talking about him positively. I think he's cack.
Waylander
Anelka has already said no. LFC have already said no to Sturridge so it will be straight cash. Bid for Gomez from Bayern also turned down (there are some rumours Carroll was a smoke-screen but I don't believe that myself)
cruiser647
It's been a busy month for the football agents. Look at the list of this month's transfers (so far):- BBC Sport - Football - Transfers - January 2011
Waylander
Toon have cancelled their pre-match press conference. I guess the rumours that £35M is the sweet spot for Carroll are looking more likely.
malagus
confirmed. £35m fee agreed. Rumours that Torres is to undergo medical at chelsea soon. Not sure carroll will, as he is injured.
NewNiceMrMe
Betting has been suspended on Andy Carroll joining Liverpool. £35m. They're expected to confirm the departure of Torres once Carroll has agreed personal terms. Carroll is said to be unhappy. Oh dear.
Waylander
yeah this is all a big mess. We would be screwed if we now take the Torres bid (and I reckon Chelsea will now shave a few mill off the price) and then Carroll refuses to come/refuses personal terms etc Andy Reid has signed for Blackpool. Adam on the way to LFC then.....?
NewNiceMrMe
Well I still think it's a better signing than Suarez for you. Wait until you see more of Carroll in a Liverpool shirt. He'll impress you immensely. A very, very talented young player. Of course it probably doesn't matter because he'll be arrested within a few weeks on Merseyside.
