Awesome job although I don't like the frozen black - the frozen grey however I love. I'm hunting for a Silverstone II M3 at the moment - how does that colour shape up to a full detail?

Being lighter it might not show swirls as badly as a darker car anyway so maybe just a Gloss Enhancement detail to bring it up to a very acceptable standard rather than going the whole hog and making it perfect. They are a nice colour though

Evening... or indeed morning.. :)

Just uploaded these DBS pics to my website... along with this Boxster S that was recently detailed..

Click the thumbnail to view the Porsche and almost 200 other cars now in our portfolio..

John%20Porsche%20Boxster%20S-03_jpg.jpg

I originally viewed this DBS at Christmas before the customer collected. It was dusty after its road test so it was hard to fully inspect it but you could still see the usual Aston Martin signature sanding marks on most panels. But what I didn't notice, with the thin layer of road grime, or it wasn't on the paint at this point was the terrible contamination / micro blistering to the paint... more on this in a second.

Unfortunately due to the customers work commitments and a few early teething problems with the car I've been unable to detail it till now and its just covered its first 1000 miles. Still... I was relatively optimistic for a straight forwards job... :wall:

The usual wash and clay regiem took place ( all the products I use can be purchased from Meguiar's, Autoglym, Collinite, Insta Finish, Poorboy's, Dodo Juice, ValetPro, Einszett, Chemical Guys, Eurow, Lake, Kestrel, RainX - the best car care - Shinearama ) and then it was taken indoors and checked closely under the lights...

Ok.. so DA sanding on the roof... No problem... right??

PaulAstonMartinDBS-01.jpg

And the result after a hit with Menz 3.02 and then wiped with IPA to remove any polishing oils that may be masking some remaining defects...

PaulAstonMartinDBS-02.jpg

... ah ok a couple of scratches left... and whats that funny speckling that looks like sap... surely that should have come off with the polish??.. lets try again...

...hmm thats the scratch sorted out.. but what is this speckling...?

PaulAstonMartinDBS-03.jpg

Some time and lots more polishing later...

PaulAstonMartinDBS-04.jpg

:wall:

Even now I'm not 100% sure what it was. It was on every upper surface but also on the back of the car even right up under the number plate recess but it wasnt on the glass or plastics so it suggested some kind of paint contamination rather than sap but even strong clay wouldn't shift it nor would any chemical. It required 3m fast cut plus and a hard pad and even wool in some areas to fix it. As you can see from the following pictures though I was 99% successful.

Very frustrating seeing as the paint was otherwise correcting with a relatively light polishing compound.

By the end of day 1 (12 working hours) I had only completed (thats compounded and refined) the roof, pillars, n/s door, rear quarter and o/s rear quarter..

More of that dreaded blistering before polishing..

And a close up before and after. It may look light but in the flesh it was really robbing the paint of any clarity and it just looked messy.

Note although everyone looks through these pics in a few seconds... I checked the time stamps and the before and afters showed it took me 3 hrs to correct just the bonnet. Time flys when your having fun. lol

The paint was then waxed with Zymol Vintage wax which was left on while other detailing jobs were completed.

Trim and tyres were dressed in what is my new favourite product! :thumb:Car Pro PERL. Leaves them looking like they havent had a product applied at all. Just leaves them black and natural. Love it.

Glass was treated with Gtechniq G1. 3 coats on the front and 1 on the sides and back.

Wheels and exhausts were treated with Blackfire metal sealant (available from Polished Bliss)

Interior was vacuumed and leather treated with Zaino Z10.

And then I went a bit crazy with photos :)

Enjoy...

Evening. This job was completed last week.. a week that saw a total of 65hrs back breaking hard work on 3 different cars :)

This particular car took 33hrs over 3 days and was done at Munich Legends BMW specialists who now have me to carry out detailing work on their higher end stuff. Great guys and they carry out some wonderful restoration. This one however was a completely original UK Sport Evo which needed a fair bit of work.

Dont forget to follow us on f2.png or t2.png. I'm trying to use it more regularly to post little updates of what we are up to :)

Remember you can buy any of the products we use from Shinearama. Links available below.

Wheels with Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner & Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover

Agitated with 1 brush for the wheel face and an EZ Detail Brush for the insides

Pre foam with Meguairs Hyper Wash then rinsed after 5 minutes. If you cant fit a foam bottle to your pressure washer then this Foam Gun is very good and works on mains pressure.

2 bucket shampoo with Meguairs Shampoo Plus and a Meguairs MF Wash Mit

Rinsed and dried

Clayed with Sonus Ultra Fine Detailing Clay with Meguairs Last Touch as lube

Stubborn tar removed with Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover

Onto the polishing and a new polish for me but mighty glad I had it!

Scholl S3 Gold on a Scholl yellow pad. Correction wise it cut through the same amount of swirls as 3 hits of Menzerna IP3.02 (so saved 2/3 of time) and finished down much much better than 3m FCP. Scholl only needed one hit of Menzerna 106FA to finish compared to 3M FCP needing 2 hits or more. Without this polish it would have taken much longer! (as if 33 hrs wasnt long enough already)

A few before and after shots...The I wont post them all as it will make for a LOOONG post but they can be seen in my portfolio on my website by clicking HERE

Hello.. been a while... been very busy so check out the website portfolio to see all the cars we have been working on. Cambridge Autogleam: Car Detailing and Paint Correction Specialists

Despite asking the owner over and over what the colour was called.... I've STILL gone and forgotten it* ??? I'm sure he will be along soon to remind me.

Anyway... this was carried out a little while ago now but such is my workload at the moment that I'm only just getting round to putting it online properly.

Despite already being in good condition we started with our usual safe wash process to make sure it was completely free of dirt and contamination ready for polishing.

The key to a safe wash that will keep your car free from swirls for as long as possible is a good pre wash. We apply a pH neutral foam to a dry car and let it dwell a few minutes. This will start to soften dirt particles without stripping off expensive wax layers. If you cant fit a foam bottle to your pressure washer then this Foam Gun is very good and works on mains pressure.

SteveAstonMartinV8-01.jpg

SteveAstonMartinV8-02.jpg

Dont let the foam dry. Its best to work on a cloudy day or in the shade or if you have no option just make sure you keep spraying the foam to keep in wet while it has a couple of minutes to work.

Then pressure rinse the dirt off the car working methodically about 1.5-2ft away from the car. Remember you are not just wanting to rinse the foam off from a distance but actually trying to get as much dirt off the car.

Stuart here rinsing the lower sections.

SteveAstonMartinV8-03.jpg

If the car is filthy we often carry out the foam and rinse stage twice to ensure as much dirt is off the car before touching with a wash mitt.

Next we recommend using a shampoo bucket and a rinse bucket. After shampooing each small section with Meguairs Shampoo Plus and a Meguairs MF Wash Mit scrub the wash mit in the rinse bucket before picking up more shampoo. This keeps the dirt in the rinse bucket and the shampoo bucket water clean. You will be surprised at how dirty the water from the rinse bucket is when you throw it away compared to the shampoo bucket. This stops you putting all the dirt back on the car each time you collect more shampoo.

SteveAstonMartinV8-05.jpg

SteveAstonMartinV8-04.jpg

Then use a good thick drying towel to carefully dry the car after the shampoo is rinsed.

Anyway... once all this was carried out the car was put back in the garage. Any vents and trim that could easily be removed were removed to aid polishing. The paint depth was carefully measured and paint checked under halogen lights to assess the amount of defects. Again thanks to the owners careful wash regiem, swirls were to a minimum for a car of this age and even the usual aston martin DA sanding marks were few and far between.

Afternoon.

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to prepare a few cars for Munich Legends ready for the BMW show at Gaydon.

Long week but quite good fun.

There is a full write up which ended up being pretty long here on detailing world... http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=229384

I wont copy it all here as I'm sure no one cares lol but I'll post the photos here as I know a few of you like your old BMs :)

The M6 is actually now for sale at Munich Legends Your Independent BMW Dealer.

Enjoy..

The main job was on the M6..

Evening.

I was going to put everything all in one loooooooooong thread.... but I've split it up and done a mini write up on the polisher and MF polishing system HERE for those that are interested... basically till now you have needed to correct with a rotary polisher to remove heavy swirl marks but Meguiar's have released a new microfibre disc and compound that seems to work much better than previous DA alternatives.

So in this thread I can just remind you to follow us on facebook and twitter again

f2.png or t2.png

...and plug a short vid I did the other day of the DBS I did some time back..

Full write up was HERE

...and finally do the write up for the GT3RS.... which also has a video ;)

You may notice the GT3RS decals are missing... well the owner hated them and also isn't a fan of the red accents so these have now been painted black, along with the wheels, a new black roll cage and new black seatbelts to match. Will update a photo next week.

Typical sticky porsche paint on this which is why i chose to use the new DA system.

The paint was polished with the D300 DA compound and a 5" cutting disc on the G220 DA polisher

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-14.jpg

Compared to the rotary which I tried on the bonnet, this cut down dust, heat and time significantly. On this paint the D301 finishing wax and finishing 5" DA disc didnt really work. It left it slightly hazy still so I chose to use a 6" Valet Pro foam finishing pad with Menzerna 106FA which left a crisp, sharp, marring and hologram free finish.

Before

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-01.jpg

After

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-02.jpg

Before

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-03.jpg

After

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-04.jpg

Its actually nice being able to get right into the edges without worrying the pad is going to pick up the tape residue like it sometimes does as well...

Before

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-05.jpg

After

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-06.jpg

And in 1 hit the compound was able to deal with severe marring from where i had been rubbing down paint spots from where I had filled in lots of stone chips.

Before

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-07.jpg

After

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-08.jpg

DA sanding marks were no problem too... these on the rear needed 2 hits with the D300 compound to remove

After

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-11.jpg

After

The car was then given 2 coats of Menzerna Powerlock. The first by DA on a Lake Country Finishing Pad and then by hand

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-20.jpg

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-21.jpg

Plastic and rubber trim was given a layer of dodojuice tyre wax which actually works better on trim than tyres.

JohnPorsche997GT3RS-22.jpg

That GT3 RS is stunning. I also think the owner has bloody good taste in doing what he's done with the decals and other areas where he has de-tackied the car in my opinion. Exactly what I'd do if I ever worked hard enough to be able to afford one.+++

Lovely cars, fabulous work.....but for gods sake please change the music on the videos! :roflmao:+++

sorry i know this is a 2012 detail but wanted to share it :)

This brand new C63 Black Series was detailed on wednesday so thought I'd pull my finger out and get the pics online asap this time.

As always you can follow us on f2.png or t2.png where there are lots more photos updated daily.

In general the paint was in pretty good condition from the dealer. A few swirls and buffer trails here and there where someone had obviously had a go at polishing it.

You can see the slight haze emanating from the light herePeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-02.jpg

And after

PeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-03.jpg

During polishing

PeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-01.jpg

And again with the inspection lamp.

Before

PeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-04.jpg

After

PeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-05.jpg

All together half the bonnet, both front wings, both vents just infront of the rear arches, the filler cap, the boot lid, the rear bumper and the near side rear arch all needed polishing.

PeterMercedesC63AMGBlack-06.jpg

Once all that was complete it was time to start applying 3 layers of protection.

First was a layer of Blackfire paint sealant, which even on its own is a great product but this was then topped with 2 coats of Zymol Vintage wax. Mean while the interior was cleaned and glass sealed, tyres dressed etc.

The end result.... Pure Evil!

Whoops... sort of forgot this thread... so here is the most recent detail to update it :)

Even for those not into detailing... you have to agree its a cracking car.

This one was a bit tougher than expected and it took about 30 hours in the end. Customer offered to put me up for a couple of nights though so was pretty easy to just turn off the lights in the garage and carry on again the next morning.

The paint was extremely hard and was taking 2.5hrs - 5hrs per panel to perfect.

Here are some before and after photos.

The bonnet was quite badly stone chipped but the deep swirls all came out nicely.

MarkPorsche993RS-251_zpsae1cab18.jpg

MarkPorsche993RS-27_zps3c8c378e.jpg

The front bumper had some DA sanding marks on it right at the edge.

MarkPorsche993RS-281_zpsdadb6902.jpg

Some more DA sanding marks on the top of the passenger wing.

MarkPorsche993RS-301_zpsb482db1e.jpg

And more sanding marks on the wing where it meets the bumper.

MarkPorsche993RS-321_zpsc7f80a3b.jpg

The passenger door after correction.

MarkPorsche993RS-36_zps28bbd36b.jpg

More DA marks on the rear quarter.

MarkPorsche993RS-391_zps1c0c9e1f.jpg

MarkPorsche993RS-45_zps023fb779.jpg

The rear lights were pretty dull so these were also polished.

MarkPorsche993RS-461_zpsc6a9c745.jpg

Also the painted bar in the engine bay was pretty hazy and scratched. It didn't come up perfect but was greatly improved.

MarkPorsche993RS-481_zpsdaf4b4c5.jpg

Around the rear number plate was pretty scratched as well from where old number plate stickers had been removed.

MarkPorsche993RS-521_zps878eab7e.jpg

Swirls on the drivers door.

MarkPorsche993RS-541_zps4bceb500.jpg

And finally.... yes... more swirls.

MarkPorsche993RS-561_zps2212e591.jpg

MarkPorsche993RS-58_zps436d17a7.jpg

After all the polishing was FINALLY completed it was on with a layer of Zymol Vintage wax. The exhausts were polished and the glass was cleaned but to be honest Mark does a great job of keeping the car clean and tidy so there wasn't much more for me to do so here are some final photos.

Any questions please ask.

 You must have the patience of a saint. If I spend two hours on my whole car, I'm physically and mentally tired and ready to give up!

Can't argue with the results though +++

Nathan - are you still using this stuff?

"I've been using a newer product on the last few cars for plastics and rubbers. Phil from Shinearama kindly sent me some Carpro PERL."

Any good? No idea what slinging is either!!

Hello. Yes still using PERL.

When I say 'sling' I mean if you leave it to dry properly and then drive the car you dont get black dots of tyre dressing 'slung' up the side of the car like you do with some dressings.

Good Evening.

These details were carried out last week. the Boxster was done at Nine Excellence after they carried out some servicing work and the Alpina was at Munich Legends.

I posted a few photos as I went along so if your interested in seeing these and future cars you can follow us on f2.png or t2.png where there are lots more photos updated daily.

Also you can buy any of the products used on this detail from Clean Your Car if you wanted to try detailing yourself :)

cyc-logo.png

They also have a great loyalty points scheme that actually relate to real savings the next time you return.

So the Boxster was booked for a Full Correction which was done over 2 days. Many thanks to Nine Excellence for accommodating me and giving me plenty of space and time to carry out my work.

All original paint on the Boxster and only 90-100microns of paint so some deeper marks were left. Typical sticky porsche paint meant polishing was difficult and created lots of dust. Because of the difficult paint the finishing polishing was done with a Meguairs G220 DA polisher which seems to work lots better on the sticky porsche paint.

Some Before and After shots. The paint is always wiped down with a panel wipe to remove polishing oils after each section is polished so the correction you are seeing is actual real correction and not covered over by any products.

GerardPorscheBoxster-01.jpg

GerardPorscheBoxster-02.jpg

GerardPorscheBoxster-03.jpg

Sorry about the dust but this is as the back end was finished.

GerardPorscheBoxster-04.jpg

I did a bit of a time lapse video on the drivers door as well

GerardPorscheBoxster-05.jpg

GerardPorscheBoxster-06.jpg

Once all the polishing was finally complete the car was given a coat of Wolfs Hard Body sealant. Wheels were sealed with CarPro Reload and tyres were dressed with CarPro PERL. Glass was sealed with Wolfs Glass Guard.

During the wash stage I had also spent a long time scrubbing the roof and then it was sealed with GTechniq I1.

A quick photo of this repelling the water from my iphone.

Anyway here are a few finished photos. Customer was obviously over the moon with the transformation.

Next up was this rare Alpina B8 Touring. Just 27 of these made and this was number 19. 4.6 V8 engine. Oh yes its done 280,000 miles!

The car had actually just been fully restored and resprayed. It still needed 2 days of polishing though. It was then protected with 2 coats of Zymol Vintage wax.

Evening.

Firstly, I've started a new Instagram channel for work for those who like following such things. Please tap follow :)

Obviously we are still on facebook and twitter as well and regularly post pics of the cars we are working on. f2.png or t2.png

Just spent a while updating my portfolio with recent work. Here is the first one to show off to you in no particular order other than this has been one of my favourite cars I've worked on in the past few months.

Brand new, very highly spec'd Bentley GT Speed in a lovely metallic red with lots of carbon trims and extras. Real wow factor for this car ... in fact I uttered OMG to myself in the van as I drove up the drive way and caught sight of it.

The car had a few minor swirls on all panels and then some wet sanding marks in localised areas. The whole car was machine polished and then treated to 2 coats of our Zymol Vintage wax.

Here are the pics of the finished car.

A bright colour (definitely another wow car) and a very loud car... I think maybe the loudest one of the year so far.

Quite a few swirls on this used car.

After machine polishing

PhilMaseratiGranTurismo-02.jpg

Polished with Meguairs Correction Compound on a microfibre pad with a Meguairs G220 DA polisher. This system is very safe as it generates much less heat but still has good corrective power and on hard paint like this car it finishes down perfectly ready for a wax. In this case the Zymol Vintage wax again.

It was unfortunately raining when the car was finished so here are a few finished shots in the garage.
