jsf79
I have a D3 2004 4.0tdi and the screen that raises and lowers out of the dash to display the radio etc has suddenly started playing up: When you turn it on it raises but then judders e=when it reaches the top of its trouble as if the motor is still trying to raise it further. Then when you lower it it stops about a half inch from fully stowed and does the same juddering act. It seems like it's got out of synch witht he motor mechanism, can this be re-calibrated or is this a portent for bigger problems to come? Many thanks. craigyb
From what I understand you can buy a kit from Ebay to fix the mechanism, don't ask me for a link as I don't have one. Or you can replace the mechanism for about £300 from a dealers, but it's a pain to swap out and you have to dismantle the whole dash to get the unit out. PsYcHe
it's a reasonably common problem.. one of the little cheap plastic cogs has lost a tooth or broken.
jk88
Had similar problem with mine, replaced by local Audi dealer under warranty last summer. Dealer says would have cost around £350 if paying for it.
jsf79
The only repair kit I can find on theif bay is where you have to send the mechanism off to the states and he repairs it for you and sends it back. Has anyone got any experiences of this or know of any alternatives? Thanks.
Mitchet
I had this on mine last year. I was about to go for the 'ship to US' eBay option, but found an advert on eBay for a complete replacement screen unit for bargain price of £80. I fitted it in about an hour myself. If you can live with it for now, and keep an eye out on eBay.
