Andy_Bangle
Despite the rumours of its demise, the next-generation Audi RS4 appears to be on track (literally) based on this mule that our spy shooters have just spied on Germany's Nürburgring. Seen here testing in the all-too-desirable Avant body style, the next RS4's final design will likely be a bit more aggressive, incorporating a much more pronounced front fascia complete with lower air intakes similar to those on the RS5 Coupe. On this mule, we can clearly see the larger wheels (straight from the RS5), bigger brakes and slightly wider track. As for power, the safest bet is to expect that the RS5's high-revving 4.2-litre V8 will carry over to the RS4, producing somewhere around 450 horsepower. Other rumours have suggested that an all-new 4.0-litre turbocharged V6 could be put to use here, the 4.2-litre V8 still looks to be the safest bet. Since the RS4's key competitors will be the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Audi would probably be wise to use the 450-hp mill in an effort to keep things as competitive as possible. PetrolDave
Like the sound of the 450bhp version of the V8, but if it has the same suspension setup as the RS5 (which seems likely) then the ride and handling are likely to be as bad as the RS5. NewNiceMrMe
Is that just a drivetrain test car then, not the actual shape? I find it a bit bland. I do like those wheels though and that looks like seriously wide rubber on them too.
shao_khan
its funny because I did like those wheels, but it appears that every A3 I have seen in the last 2 weeks has had a similar wheel on them - I am not sure if there is a special edition out at the moment, but its put me right off them!!! spikeyboy
Think those wheels come from the Technic special edition - saw a A4 and A1 with them . Read elsewhere that it looked like a intercooler was in the drivers side lower vent - also spoke to Audi saleman who confirmed that Audi had a new 4ltr Turbo engine that was good for applications up to 750hp - so it may well have a detuned version of that.
