maisie's boy
started car this morning got down road few miles when i thought i heard a police car, turned down radio then realised it was coming from the engine, opened up bonnet got the misses to give it a rev and it seems to be coming from the back of the engine , only happens when i give it a rev at about 2000 revs a.t.b. also noticed that the revs were slow to come back down to idle speed
drpellypo
Is it a whine that goes up and down in pitch as you rev? If so, it'll likely be the impellers on your turbo rubbing up against metal. E.g it's knackered.
maisie's boy
would this add to fuel consumption ? seem to be using more fuel a.t.b
drpellypo
If your turbo isn't running effectively then it will have a knock on effect on the entire running of the engine so yes, economy will suffer.
