Worst car you've ever owned ? + pic.

79 posts in this topic

C'mon, 'fess up, we've all owned some crap...

Worst car I ever owned was a Y reg Vauxhall Cavalier 1.3 saloon, 4 speed manual, in a hideous burrn orangy/browny/red colour. Paid £900 for it, not knowing that it had previously been stolen and the ignition was on the blink. Sadly the resulting fire didn't kill it, nor the rust and a dog rough engine, I sold it for £400 a year later...

It was this colour...

and this body...

italrival_08.jpg

It was, by any measure, utterly crap. Unreliable, rusty, slow, understeery, heavy and simply hideous to look at. I 'upgraded' to a MK2 Sri, which I rather liked...

Renault 14. Worst piece of sh*t I ever owned. 3 months in total til I killed it and sold it for scrap for £45.

Hideous, hideous piece of crap.

You don't want the HDi Fizz, the XLDT with added dials is the one real enthusiasts have :coffee:

(Has he served his ban yet ?)

Scirocco - slow, noisy, a million miles on the clock, countless owners, not one single panel without a dent or rust, and many recurrent intermittent electrical faults. It was free so I can't complain too much, but simply awful.

No pics I'm afraid, as they're all in the loft, but it depends what you mean by 'worst' really.

My most unreliable car was a Skoda Superb 1.9 TDi 'elegance'.

It had a warning light on when I drove it off the forecourt brand new in 2003, and it continued to go wrong until 3 days before I sold it, in fact, those last 3 days were the only days I owned it when it didn't have a fault of some description.

My most disappointing car, was a Nissan Pulsar GTIR, utter garbage, handling diabolical, dodgy build quality, stupid intercooler...

I've never really owned a proper old banger other than scumball cars, so don't have any skeletons in my closet.

My last Omega.

Was doing 400 miles at the weekends after a while and in the A8 4.2 - was a bit expensive. So, I sold it and bought a (what I thought was) lovely Omega 2.5TD Elite in the lovely colour below.

Every option under the sun - smooth box, heated front & rear black leather seats, sunroof - BUT it drank more diesel in those 400 miles than the A8 drank petrol   . A right crock of sh1t! But then again 1 out of 4 Omegas isn't too bad - is it?

Kept it 2 weeks I think - before palming it off in a part ex for an A6 2.8 (P reg)

PS - none of my cars have been unreliable - ie, none have left me stranded. +++

One of these in this colour - Linarite blue. SLK 230 Kompressor

mercedes-slk-class-slk-convertible-petrol_2383097.jpg

Waited ages for it - and sold it within 6 months. Truely shocking car. Rubbish.

I then went and bought an A2 for the wife :ffs:

There's no justifying a Vitara, you've just lost all your credibility, hang your head in shame! :P

I'm only on my 5th car so limited choice.

The 1.1S Metro was pretty crap and looked like the one below but it had red seat belts so i'll let it off.

I think the worst though was the MG ZS 120+ which was based on the 45 which was based on the old Civic (i think) and was a crap old design, didn't handle particularly well, equipment was crap and the value plummeted like a stone. I had a ZR105 before it and although also crap that handle better and was more fun to drive, despite being slower.

ZR was in XPower Grey....

Both of mine are early company cars and I can't decide which was worse, this thing which I had in a lovely shade of pale blue

post-2491-137914466583_thumb.jpg

or this pile of poo which ran on 3 cylinders most of the time despite having the entire ignition system replaced

post-2491-137914466585_thumb.jpg

From these 2 I went to a 1.6 LX Sierra which felt like a massive step up the ladder.

Never bought a bad car.....although I`v regretted buying one or two.....most notably a 1990 mk2 MR2....I prefered the lighter and more nibble mk1 MR2......Nothing wrong with the mk2...reliable and looked good...but overall it was wrong car for me at the time.....chopped it in after a year to buy a Celica......sadly no pics of the mk2 MR2.....but is was a red GT

I'm afraid I have to raise you a B reg Metro 1.0 City (in that fetching red colour). I even had to buy and install a heated rear window from Halfords and buy the optional near side wing mirror.

It was marginally better than this one :

Its hard to put a worst car as there have been a lot of what would now be deemed dreadful cars, but I think I'll give the title to this:

$(KGrHqZ,!mIE1GEYYMOBBN(uW57dNQ~~_35.JPG

Only had it 6 weeks, brought from new, interior matched the exterior (Green and Silver leather) had nav and everything but none of it worked very well. Off road it was very capable but on road it was truely dire.

1992 Ford Escort "Kingfisher" It was awful 1.3 engine that had no guts at all, it ate brake pads and discs. Had it 8 months before getting a Sierra estate, which was soo much better.

Worst thing was I sold my Lancia Delta to buy it!

Is that a Shogun Pinin?

I thought they were meant to be quite good?

The Pinin Evo always looked like a right laugh!

Fortunately I've never owned what I'd call a really crap car, but I have had a couple of very dull company cars. The first, as a young graduate trainee, was an Escort 1.4LX in burgundy, a bit like this:

post-539-137914466586_thumb.jpg

At the time, the spoiler on the back, the tinted windows and the sunroof all seemed quite good :roflmao: Never had another ford since though

Some time later I had a 'pool' car for a while after joining a new company, an MB C180 Esprit (= base model with lurid trim) manual in doom blue without a/c

post-539-137914466588_thumb.jpg

Now that was both dull and headache inducing at the same time
