Nicely done Rich! Bet the Mrs was well pleased with that purchase!

Look forward to seeing photos of the maiden voyage! :)

I'm just wondering at what point in the transaction TDK discovered that "Novelty inflatable toy, accommodates three" was actually a boat.

Feckers.

I vaguely remember searching for boat and thinking 'that looks like fun' :)

I think it looks great. Just the sort of thing you need for a weekend in Norfolk with the family +++

Or you could come down and stay with Mook and use the river by his estate.

The English channel?

We actually have a stream at the end of our garden, separating the lawn and orchard from the woods, your welcome to try it out in there, it's not very deep, I'm probably going to be playing with R/C boats in it most of the summer anyway!

Why are you telling me this :uhoh:

On topic, my paddles turned up yesterday, just need a buoyance aid for the youngest now.

So, "Dame Ellen McArther" had her maiden voyage yesterday, Burnham Overy Staithe (if anyone knows it).

The thing easily fitted in the boot of the beemer, and the paddles did, with a picnic and all the other gubbins. Electric pump lead wasn't quite long enough to reach round the front of the car, so I inflated Dame Ellen on the bonnet as I'd parked on a lane. Took about 10 minutes to inflate the two long side pods, the base, the 3 seats and the 2 spray decks. Most of the valves were 'Boston' valves, pretty rugged. There's an indicator gauge on the kayak showing you how much air is in it. A simple but clever design. It was surprisingly rigid too.

It was incredibly stable on the water, less susceptible to the wind than I thought, and held full pressure all day. I wasn't comfortable dragging it up the ramp but I was probably being over fussy. They do a 1 seater, 2 seater and a 2+1 which this one is. Daughter had jettisoned 1 of the seats and deflated the other in the pic below but it could easily hold 2 big adults and a large child I reckon. We all had a play in it. Water looks deeps in the pic but was only waist deep and there was no tide at the time (hence no lifejackets in this pic).

For a bit of fun on the creeks I couldn't recommend one highly enough. :)

Thats looks really good.

Tempted to get one for the family but last time I went on a 2 person kayak it felt like bloody hard work paddling. Every time I turned around, the Mrs wasnt paddling. She told me she had just stopped to take a break but I am not buying it +++

I'd imagine, and hope, this is a good deal lighter than the plastic things you get on holiday.

As a paddler myself I took a plastic boat out in Thailand, put in the same effort and power I might in a racing boat and wiped myself out of energy in 5 mins flat!

It does look better on the water and inflated than the previous pictures!

Looks fun too, without the need for roof rack canoe carriers.

It weighs c.19Kg (excluding paddles), pretty easy to cart about, it's not 'toy' plastic quality either as the material feels pretty thick.
