RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

In light of the current situation with RS3 production (Or total lack of it) Could anyone who has ordered a car, please post up with colour choice, and whether or not you have received a confirmation of build week?

The reason for asking is to try and wade through the Bullshite currently coming from Audi on this particular car, after all you have put down your hard earned, you should be updated and kept informed, which we are patently not, even the dealers have nothing on there internal system

I'll start of:

Suzuka Grey, apparently in the first 25 ordered in the UK December 2010,ROI Novemeber 2010

No confirmed build date, other than there are "issues" with my colour choice

I am suspecting a tumble weed response on this post, but hopefully we can get some feed back to enable me to challenge the feckers, as to what excatly is gong on.

Anymore for anymore??

Just goes to illustrate, that we are being fed nonsense and silence, in equal measures.

I was told by the R8 team, who are handling the UK orders, that the colour Suzuka Grey is the issue, whilst RSJACK is being told no probs FFS!

Then we have week 48 build date on a Red, the more posts we can get up on this thread, the more ammo for an official approach to Audi UK, to get answers, so please post up with your info..............

Hi everyone,

Just joined this forum, very interesting to see the issues surrounding the RS3.

I have also found it impossible to get information from my dealer, however I was last week given a build date of week 49 for my Daytona grey rs3 I ordered first week of January.

So all in all should be around one year from order to delivery, not really typical german efficiency is it.

Hi Robbie, welcome and many thanks for your info...........looks like we have a pattern starting to appear here (Delivery Week 48/49) our cars get built last it appears............as Daytona Grey is supposedly the only colour affected along with Misano Red for A1?? So the fact that Robbie gets same delivery date as everyone else who has posted, pretty much confirms that deliveries are not going to commence in the UK till 2012-Q1 and it appears if you have ordered Suzuka Grey as I have done, then you will not have received a build date yet, so looks like we will be last to get our cars, in 2012.

On that basis Audi has secured anywhere between £0.5-1 Million in deposits which they will be sitting on for a year FFS!

My own take, is that they will build the UK right hand drive 500 allocation last, and will produce the bulk of the order, left handers first, as these are strating to appeari in europe........please keep posting as the more confirmation and colours we can get up, the stronger our position to push Audi UK

Ah, failed to explain, it's not my car. But it's phantom black.

If I order, it'll be Sepang blue...that test drive shouldn't be too far away now.

The plot thickens!

That is the first confirmed UK build date I have seen on any forum, which is not build 48/49, any idea on date ordered and position on ROI when car was ordered?

I have been RI that some dealers are being "economical" with the truth,on build dates as there have been a plethora of cancellations when they have "come out" and actually confirmed build weeks with customers..........apparently it is an industry problem, as cars are taking so long to arrive at the stealers from point of order, customers are saying "Feck this" and buying something else, as lets face it, a lot of people will not, or not able to wait 9-12 months to replace there current vehicle, for a variety of legitimate reasons

Not sure about the exact chronology, but the spec was with the dealer 23rd November 2010 and the order placed (as much as it could have been then).

Interestingly I was left under no illusions on lead time during my last discussion with the dealer.

So in theory, said order could be number 1 on the list, as book opened with Audi UK in December 2010, colour appears to be no problem, as not affected by Nuke paint issue.

Spoke to R8 team yesterday, my Suzuka Grey has been given the "Green light" for production, whatever that actually means?? and is supposedly due for build week 36-38, however that is not a build confirmation, just an update and advisory, excuse my cynicism, but I reckon that it is very questionable if the car will actually be built then, and I can forsee, there being an "issue" come later on on the year, and low and behold car goes back to 48-49, guess we'll have to wait and see on that one, not much option, but I will post up anything that turns up on the internal dealer system

Apparently the revised wheel option package as noted by Qisha on another forum and posted up here, will cost £1500 extra, and no information available as yet, on whether this is a tyre and wheel package or just a specialist tyre package using standard rims, I cannot believe that it is just a tyre package at that money, a feckin Bugatti Veyron it aint!

This option available from build week 30-32 apparently, full details will be available sometime in the next millenium at this rate!

Production constraints

AU0401-11

Because of the natural disaster in Japan, the entire industry is experiencing uncertainty in supply of parts, components and raw materials.

Audi AG has sent us the following information about affected options. We have already put in place support for customer orders that may be affected.

Paint colours

There are supply problems with a paint pigment called ‘Xirallic’, which is used to produce a number of metallic and pearl-effect paints.

In individual cases therefore, there will be a delay in the production for these colours until at least week 36, and lead times for vehicles ordered in these colours are likely to extend further.

For this reason, please check your current scheduled build weeks for orders in these colours if necessary inform your customer of the potential delay and propose an alternative paint finish. This is not limited to the suggested alternative paint colours in the table below.

Customer support

Where the customer changes paint colour from a ‘Xirallic’ paint finish to a non ‘Xirallic’ colour, we will refund the price of optional paint.

Where a customer changes from an ‘Xirallic’ to a standard colour, as well as achieving a saving on the cost of optional paint, the customer will also be entitled to an additional discount equivalent to the cost of optional paint.

We will identify all relevant customer orders in the system as at the end of business on Friday 6 May. These orders will be priced at zero value unless the paint colour is changed to a non ‘Xirallic’ colour at which point it will be re-valued with a discount equal to the retail price of optional paint for that particular model. Please note that it will not be possible to amend orders to Audi exclusive colours as this will result in further extended lead times.

This support will not be available for stock, showroom or demo vehicles so these should be changed to non ‘Xirallic’ colour as soon as possible by the Centre.

Note: When changing the exterior colour please check the colour combination with the selected interior colour and trims.

For new orders please be aware that there will be no support o these ‘Xirallic’ paint colours and customer should be advised of the likelihood of further delivery lead times extension, and encouraged to select an non ‘Xirallic’ colour

Rear view camera

We also have supply shortages of a component that makes up part of the rear view camera, meaning that the rear view camera will be fitted, but will not be operational.

This affects the Audi parking system advanced with reversing camera (7X8) on:

A4

A5

Q5

Q7

A8,

Audi parking system advanced with reversing camera (KA2)for the models

A6

C7

A7

Q7 (MJ12)

A8 (MJ 12)

The Audi A6 Avant (C6), R8 and R8 Spyder are not affected.

The system will retain the functionality of the parking system plus (sound and graphic display in the MMI screen)

Ash,

Whats the revised wheel option? Link?

My order has been "offically" confirmed and I should get a build date in the next 3-4 weeks!!!!

Hi Wayne, suspect your build date might well be same as mine due to colour and specification being pretty much the same bar the buckets, info from Qisha ( Mr Audi insider Germany) on wheel update as follows:

"For even more traction a further wheel option will be available by the end of September,The front axle wheel set up will be 8.5 x 19" with special R02 225/30 R19 Tyres, the back will remain 8.0 x 19" with special R02 225/35 R19 Tyres

The total allocation of 3,300 units will be soldout in the next few days"

My query was, are these going to be a different wheel design? Or just a wider version of the current standard wheel,on the front no answer as yet, let you know as soon as I get any update

RSJack..Much as I would like, I cannot unfortunately give you any contact details for the R8 team, as these are restricted to Dealer only personnel, and they will not accept enquiries from other than Dealer personnel, if you have any queries speak to the dealer you are using, and ask then to contact the R8 team and report back to any of your queries, if you have ordered a car and placed a deposit, you are quite wihin your rights to do this, as for this particular vehicle (RS3) R8 team are handling and processing all orders

That looks nowt special. May as well be a 2.0tdi S-line with nice wheels

I've already seen Audi S3's with the same designed wheels, also from what I've heard quattro GmbH will be offering a additional alloy wheel option and tyre combination at the front in a effort to cure its massive under/over steering issues.

Finally the rear arches on the RS3 are not flared either.... personally a very poor effort from quattro GmbH considering this is a £40k+ top model.

As Eldavo says, how under-whelming is that?

Not impressed at all. If anything I thought it'd look much better in the flesh - apparently not.

Personal opinion though and I hope you all enjoy your purchases, because that's all that matters - but I do have one question.....have any of you actually driven one? Surely no-one has just gone and spent a huge amount of money on an A3 without actually driving one?
