Calm Chris
Where are you going this year? We have just booked Sharm Baron Palms for 2 weeks. Third time to the Red sea, 1st time to Sharm. Let's hope the sharks are on holiday and the politics are stable
Andy_Bangle
That place looks ok Went to Malaysia and China earlier in the year for the F1 :D So staying closer to home this summer: Leeds in August and Amsterdam in September
Milo
I've gone completely against type this year and we're going to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca in a group of 5 families. Not all flying out together though, 3 flights over 4 days. We were at Center Parcs in Feb and going back in August and we're debating either Cyprus or London for the October half term (Cyprus would probably be cheaper ) I want to go to Mexico (Sensatori) next year and will hopefully be booking it before the end of the summer. NewNiceMrMe
No extravagances in the Indian ocean for us this year, too many plans for more changes to the house and we're playing it cautiously purely because of the economy at the moment. We've managed to get into a 5* in Playa Blanca (Canaries) that we've been trying to get booked in to for 6 years. Down on the Marina where we know the food is superb so we're off there in August. We're also planning a winter break for a week, though that isn't finalised yet. Only the 3 of us going this year as the eldest is off to Greece with her friends and is then home alone.... God help us.

m4ttm4son
Might go away to catch some snow at the end of the year, but this summer will be spent in our garden. It's like being on holiday for us this year.
burble
I've already had a week in upstate New York and 3 weeks in Ontario. Most likely I'll grab a week or two in Cyprus in September.
Calm Chris
Only the 3 of us going this year as the eldest is off to Greece with her friends and is then home alone....God help us. Snap, he will be in Munich on the lash with 5 mates. He returns and we then go. If he fecks the house I will bury him alive. We have just recovered from hosting his 19th birthday + 30 4rseholes last weekend (actually some are decent kids, but after drinking Crank juice 11% energy drink they revert to w4nker mode). I'm currently in Sensatori just now. One more week to go then home. Only been here three days so far but it very nice. A little bit out of the way and not much of a beach but thar doesn't affect me so much. Well worth upgrading to premium so you get these all to yourself. But do so at the hotel, it cost us 600 dollars which was far cheaper than the travel agents

Maxyboy
Good stuff, would appreciate your opinions on it when you get back Thoughts so far. As mentioned, a little bit out of the way with a reasonable at best beach. A short walk finds you a good one though. The staff are amazing, friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is excellent, I read mixed reviews on it but I've had some lovely stuff so far. There is only one self service restaurant (spoons) and the rest are table service. A taxi to cancun or playa del carmen is about 30 quid each way but you can book A mini bus at the hotel for about 11quid return, we are off to playa del carmen tomorrow. The adult only pool is worth avoiding unless loud obnoxious people are your thing, the rest are bliss. The room service takes no more than 35 mins to arrive, breakfast is superb this way instead of wondering the resort still half asleep looking for some toast. I've not been bitten by a mozzy yet, no sign of them. All a bit random there, it's 06:30 here and I'm still a but jet lagged. That's what 06:30 from our room looks like

Andrew
I'm off to the West Coast of America in September - first time to the States and owing to all the Air Miles I have we are going Club too. Can't wait for that. Road trip planned along the coast road, whale watching, camping, Yosemite, Tahoe and ending with my favourite wine producer in Napa. Milo
The Mexico one is off the shortlist after some very useful feedback. My niggles about the location were confirmed and although I am sure the hotel will be outstanding, I fear it's not for me
Drinks
First time outside Europe for me. Off to San Francisco, Oahu and Maui in the not too distant future, with someone who is petrified of flying, so that should be fun. Lets hope by the time the killer return trip starts, she has decided she is bored, rather than scared of flying.
Andrew
Milo - I went to Mexico last year and while the hotel was a bit "lively" for what I wanted, the actual place is amazing. I went to the same place Hopsta is going to and the sea, sand, weather etc is great. Escaping "beyond the wire" is worthwhile too if you are in an all inclusive since the food prices are good and everywhere seemed all very friendly. SINGH
Sorry to hear that Milo, what were the niggles about the location. Are the Niggles related to Mexico as a whole or the location of the Sensatori? I deal with the Mexican resorts on a daily basis and have just come back from there, it was honestly fantastic. I couldn't fault any part of it. If anyone is going on a honeymoon/couples holiday, you will struggle to find anywhere better then the El Dorado Seaside Suites in the Rivera Maya, one of Forbes top ten most romantic hotels in the world, in room jacuzzi, a la carte all inclusive dining etc... I've just come from there.
Milo
Singh, it's more the location of the Sensatori. A lot of the reviews I've read indicated it was a bit on its own and the feedback I've had from someone who has been is it is very much on its own i.e. $40 taxi ride from anywhere decent. I like to explore a bit on my own when I'm on holiday (read - peace and quiet for a couple of hours a day, away from family) and it would seem there's nothing to see or do within walking distance. Organised trips are fine but I like to take a walk into towns and villages and have a few beers and I'm not sure I'd be able to do that from the Sensatori. The feedback on the hotel, its facilities, food and staff is outstanding but for me, it's a long way to go to stop within the grounds of the hotel for 2 weeks. Mexico and the resorts we looked at are still very much on the shortlist, just not the Sensatori Andrew, whereabouts did you go?
Soulboy
We were is Cascais on the Lisbon coast a couple of weeks ago. Its our regular place, as it ticks every box for us. We were walking into town and came across a new hotel, in a very quite secluded area. It had just opened and was empty (about 20 guests) and the place was quite simply breathtaking. I have never seen a hotel like it. Also the staff were unbelievably helpful, even though we were only having a look round. And then we found out it was cheaper than where we were staying with deals on at the moment and felt quite sick! So we will probably go there once the school holidays are over, or early autumn. I just hope it stays as a hidden gem.......but its already getting rave reviews on Tripadvisor etc. The pictures dont even come close to doing it justice. http://www.expedia.co.uk/Lisbon-Hotels-Onyria-Marinha-Edition-Hotel-Thalasso.h4253181.Hotel-Information?icmcid=TRIPA.ExpediaHotelImagesUK.10791.A&foop=0&crti=4&ICMDTL=1J110725mm-m8utcMKFe2Q0RzOUOtAAAk.4253181.HtRwewA.A.TP.2089281.IE.0.189154.en_UK..&itty&itdx&rdct=1&itid&nfla=1&from=f&icmdtl=1J110725mm-m8utcMKFe2Q0RzOUOtAAAk.4253181.HtRwewA.A.TP.2089281.IE.0.189154.en_UK..&hashTag=picturesAndTours&CCheck=1&flag=l&hwrq&spsh&spsi&ICMCID=TRIPA.ExpediaHotelImagesUK.10791.A&htid=4253181 Edited July 25, 2011 by Soulboy
