So that's a 7.5% increase in price. That's a lot in my opinion. I'm sure they'll be lovely cars, but with a 120d SE now starting at over £23k - that's a lot of money.

Mediocre spec new shape Ford Focus is now £18k with discount. Now that's a lot of money!

Good point actually. I'd not really considered the price of some other mainstream brands.

On another note though, over the last few days I've seen a good few current shape 1 series that look like bloody good value for money.

5% inflation plus 2.5% VAT increase?

The 2.5% VAT increase has been around since the start of the year so that would have been reflected in the current price of the 1 series, so it's a full 7.5% increase

Too true, sterling aint worth what it used to be in the world, and the BOE seems to think we need some hefty inflation to write down our huge debts, and to discourage us from spending the money we havnt got, on imported goods, savers are getting Kicked in the gonads, with high inflation and zero returns on their money, well I guess someone has to fund inflation, who needs tax increses, when inflation is the best stealth tax ever devised

I read somewhere the other day, that leading experts n the energy sector are predicting a 5% year on year increase in energy prices for the next twenty years

New 1 series - Way too large and way too bloody ugly............ mind you, thats what I said about the old 1 series - the rest is history.

The original 1 series still is ugly, in it's raw form, but the M-Sport body kit transforms it, and I reckon 99% of all 1-series sold have the kit fitted, I would expect the same effect with the new 1, as seems to be quite common with most BMW's these days, they need the kit.
