Give it a chance - it always takes a while to refresh all of the servers. If you want to hurry it clear your DNS cache and try again +++

anyone know where the .ipsw file is stored after its been downloaded? (was going to try and option/restore instead of update) ? It doesn't seem to appear in finder...

I managed to get the latest itunes, but cancelled my IOS5 download. It was woefully slow. I can wait for a quieter time to download it.

Same for me Daz - the IOS 5 package extracts fine but I think it then tries and fails to contact the Apple activation server because the world and his wife are trying the same thing - error time +++

Tried 3 times, same error each time - given up for tonight now - will try again tomorrow.

Apparently the problem is only affecting users in the South of England.

I think it is a parting shot from Steve Jobs, like a process of Natural Selection, with Northerners clearly being the elite.

Mine was updated first time, easy peasy.:roflmao:

Backup. Then alt hit restore, select image file from my links - far more reliable method +++
