Stoddy
Hi, We have a VW Sharan 2.oL 1998 Petrol Auto. When cold, the gearbox doesn't seem to want to engage properly. After a few miles it drives perfectly. I've been told that its just the level of the oil in the gearbox being too low. Could anyone tell me the best way of dealing with this? I'm quite handy with a spanner and have a set of small ramps but not a complete car lift! Thanks in advance, Rich. cruiser647
Hi! Welcome to TSN. In this case, I think you might have to find your local VAG indy. AFAIK, the car and gearbox needs to be on the level and in the air, gearbox filling plug removed and then, go up through the gears and just as the fluid is about to overflow (in each gear) then it is at the correct level. This is the standard VAG gearbox stuff. It might be worth just getting them to replace the fluid - as it does degrade with time/mileage.

Cuprabob
VAG tends to be used as a generic term to cover VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT. Some people think it's Volkswagen Audi Group but it's actually Volkswagen A.G.
