m4ttm4son
Surprised no one's mentioned this yet. So sad. BBC News - London marathon death: Family tribute to Claire Squires Claire Squires, 30, collapsed towards the end of the 26.2 miles. Before the race she had raised £400 for Samaritans and people have been donating non-stop since the bad news; Claire Squires is fundraising for Samaritans It's now over £400,000 and climbing. stooH
It's tragic in one so young, what did she die of? Not that it's any consolation at all to her family but it's good that people have acknowledged the loss and donated when they may not have done otherwise. Tipex
Blimey, it was 100k yesterday, and then 200k this morning, so it's jumped another 200k just today. So sad, but must be some (small) comfort to her family that something good is coming from something so tragic.

stooH
Quite scary the number of instances of young people having heart attacks we're hearing about at the moment and they all seem to be pretty fit people.
Andy_Bangle
Maybe not the result her family wanted to hear: BBC News - Claire Squires inquest: Drug 'important factor' in marathon runner's death Although, she could have used it accidentally or in sliming pill Many professional and amateur sports bodies, such as the World Anti Doping Agency, have banned DMAA (methylhexanamine) as a performance-enhancing substance and suspended athletes that have used it. m4ttm4son
I don't like the fact they used "drug" in the headline like she was on coke or something at the time. Very sad. Hope they release more details on what products DMAA is in so that people can steer clear.
