A black 1M followed me through town the other day, man do they look menacing in your rear view mirror!

Fabulous. Not a fan of the pressed plates myself, but no denying the car looks superb.+++

Due a write up on how the girl goes when you slap her cute little 4rse.

Bet it upsets M3 v8 owners...

And I concur with my fellows, lovely car, nice mods. Not sure where the headlight photo is that Mr Me is commenting on.

The power is on tap much lower down compared to the V8, so now mapped this will quite easily out gun an E92 M3... however it'll lack the sound track.

Must be pretty lively.

MrMe was talking about the rear light clusters, Darklines look cool

I'm interested in the fact that even after a remap it's only achieving 402 hp. I thought it'd be more. I've got 372 hp in the Z4 with the remap and air intake. It's still a lot of power though and I have no doubt the 1M will lay it down much better than the Z4 does.

I'd like to hear how it handles the power too. The Z4 does, at full throttle shifting into 3rd and 4th, show signs of losing a little grip. Nothing that worries you, put enough to feel it tug ever so slightly at the steering wheel. I must admit I am now seriously tempted to go down the next stage route, be it a Milltek to achieve around 387-392hp or the intercooler and CAT removal to get around the 405-410 hp mark.

402bhp is conservative. It dyno'd at 408bhp and this is before the mid pipes were installed which others have shown gives around another 8-10bhp.

However it's the torque that makes it quick. 485 lb/ft (656nm in new money) gives it some serious in gear whack. A fellow owner I know has a Ferrari F430 and said that his DMS remapped 1M is quicker in gear!

The torque gains are bound to be impressive. Mine went from 295 lbs feet to 385 lbs ft, and the difference in feel is remarkable. So quite how 485 lbs ft feels in a car the size of the 1M, well it must be incredibly punchy indeed. That's a huge increase too. The 90 lbs ft extra on the Z4 35i equated to 30% increase. However, in your case if it's delivering 485 lbs feet then that is a monsterous 45% increase!

The Evolve Automotive remap on the 1M offers a 30 hp gain and a 50 lbs feet gain, so if DMS have got a remap alone delivering an extra 150 lbs feet of torque then it is frankly incredible.

You must be delighted with it, and rightly so.

Well it's not really a 150 lb/ ft increase. BMW say that the stock car has 335 lb/ft but it has an over boost feature that gives it 369 lb/ft. However all of the 1M's dyno'd have more and it appears BMW have been conservative with their estimates.

Mine had 402 lb/ft stock with over boost. Therefore the remap gave it another 83 lb/ft torque rather than 150 lb/ft :)

Still a good increase nonetheless :D

What are custom M matts?

That would be a typo hehe. Custom M mats are floor mats that have the M logo machine stitched in. They look like this :)

Are they OEM?

No, they were custom made by a chap in Oxford. I know the guy who can get them if anyone is interested?

The orange stitching around the edge matches the orange stitching in the 1M and the M logo is machine stitched on. You can't buy these from BMW in the UK so a bunch of 1M owners had them made.

Hmmm, when mine wear out (in about 2050 the miles I'm doing) I might come a-knocking mate! One presumes you can ask him to put the M in any area on the mat?

Yep I don't see any reason why you couldn't have whatever you wanted - Logo position, a heal pad, whatever really. The guy that does them also does mats for Maserati, Lotus and Aston Martin I believe, so the quality is very good indeed.

You thinking of having it put on the underside for the stealthy look? :roflmao:

Nice. Subtle changes look awesome. Not convinced on the alacantra wheel mind you, although I appreciate it would give you better grip perhaps. By the way, why is it a 1M, rather than M1??

Because the M1 already exists and is viewed as irreplaceable. At least not unless they decide to release a new super car.
