Hi. just thought I'd say eerrrm HI

Just bought me a very tidy b6 S4 with a few nice extras and the spec I wanted. Bought it from a dealer in Sheffield. It's got a Milltek cat back and high flow cats on it and I have a few tastefull mods to do. Inc

h&r springs

Wheel spacers

new bushes when springs fitted

Decat and sell old Milltek sports cat

few parts painted inc grills

Ill keep you all posted on how it goes. Anyway the day I picked it up it started to vibrate really bad. Iread they suffer with a weak flywheel and I took it to a independent specialist and the garage I bought it from is going to pay with no quibbles. The specialist said its not the flywheels but maybe a mount. I had to leave to go to the states on holiday so I'm dropping it off on the 9th to be sorted.

Fair to say its a damn nice car for the money they are.

No the grill isn't going to go body coloured. The chrome is going gloss black and centre will be a Matt dark charcoal colour. Trust me it will look good. Keeping the badge silver and the fogs to match the grill. Also painting the trim on the rear. I only do tastefull mods and put a lot of thought into them.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Decat I'm hoping a tiny bit more v8 noise nothing crazy and hoping a tad bit more power? Do you think I will? Guys on another forum think I would but still not too sure.

Will I notice much with a rs4 arb? How much and is it a straight swap? Oh and worth doing the front at the same time?

Thank you.

I did the rear ARB. For £80 (I think) it was well worth it.

Since you won't know the detailed history it may be worth getting your car checked to see if it already has the ARB or even a remap.

I had a map (and the downpipes). When I had the map remove for a while it make a fractional difference in the feel. Not sure about the numbers as seat of the pants feeling in the S4 hides it's performance due to the flat torque line.

I think the front arb is the same mm across all the models - or certainly the same on S4 and RS4.

I think....

I have a brand new 22mm B7 RS4 rear ARB for cars with DRC somewhere. Was advised against fitting it to my old Cabriolet.

I'll see if I can find it at the weekend.

Stiffening the rear has the effect of softening the front balance wise, increasing turn in, decreasing understeer. Stiffening the front too would just cancel out the effect.

Would recommend decent tyres if its not already on them. Mine came on shitty Dunlops, swapped to Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2s in Feb/March this year, transformed the car.

RNSE Nav would also be recommended. Fairly cheap upgrade nowdays, freshens up the cabin, much better screen quality, massively more usable. Waited almost a year to upgrade mine, looking back I wish I'd done it immediately!! Craigyb is your man for that.

Decatting it will just get you an MOT failure. If you want to hear the V8 more, then just get rid of the centre resonators. I ran my S4 like that for a while but it was too loud.

RS4 rear ARB makes a tiny bit of difference, but not enough to justify it if it's a road only car.

Enjoy your toy. Don't forget to tell your insurers about all of the mods, or your insurance is invalid. It's stupidly easy to get caught out if you ever come to make a claim.

I'm guessing he's saying he knows someone who will still give it an MOT pass.

The reason I've decided against decatting mine is because of the problems with this. Plus, I'm not convinced the differences are enough. I'm just going to bang the full Milltek on it and leave it at that.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeh I'm feeling the difference will be minimal that's why I'm doubting.

Mot isn't a problem my car will and always have got through with no problems. I work in the trade so that's sorted.

And the insurance isn't a problem it's on a traders policy and includes modified/race spec cars. Thanks for the concern and info.

What will I need to fit the DNS-E? The unit and anything else?

Milltek rear box | Milltek straight-through 'non resonated' centre pipes | factory cats and downpipes

Thats my current set up, maybe a bit much for everyday but perfect for a weekend toy, love it
