sutherland
We have an A6 that needs a new MMI interface. Audi say we need part number 4F0 910 732HX or 4F0 910 731 or 4F0 910 731X and that other numbers with a different final character will not works, for example 731S. Before shelling out almost £1,000 for a new unit, we'd like to know if that is really the case. Has anyone had success in installing a unit with a slightly different part number e.g. 732F instead of 732H? Thanks.
craigyb
As long as it's 4F0/1 it should be ok, but the Software on board needs to be at a level that supports the options in your car. So you may want to ask the seller, it is normally printed on the unit what version it has. For exmaple you dont want a pre 2006 SW version car in a later car as the CD changer or AMI wont work. And if the CD changer doesn't work you can't update the unit.

It's from a 2008 car going into a 2005, so hopefully that will be fine. The software in the car is 5570, but perhaps that is not synonymous with the software in the actual unit.
