t1mothy
Just got a new audi 225 ttc, anyone know what the actual 0-60 is? as on evo website its 6.1 but someone else was saying it was nearer 7 which I find hard to belive!
Paul
S3 225 is 6.4 seeing as the TTC is actually slightly heavier, its fair to say it will be around 6.4 secs or slower mark.
shao_khan
Hi and welcome to tyresmoke. I think it depends on how your car is running - my 225 from the factory was actally 236 on a rolling road, but I would say early 6 would be about right. a bit of modification and you can drop that to early 5's. ChadW
Figures I have seen range from 5.9 to 6.8!! Safe to say about 6.4 though in real world conditions. Not a blistering figure but combined with the build quality and styling makes the TT a good all round package IMHO. Really depends on the driver and the drive itself (turbos are not consistent when in use). If you decide to chip it then it should be about 5.6 to 5.8 easy. t1mothy
Cheers lads, I have just done 1k miles so I am gonna dump the clutch at 4k rpm on the way home tonight and see. Not that it will be any sort accurate experiment
shao_khan
the best time is a nice cold dry morning when you have lots of cold dense air. Car will also get quicker as it loosens up. Let us know how it goes.
t1mothy
Evo independent test, is this right?
shao_khan
If scotty were around I bet he would know. I thought the 3.2 was slightly quicker, but i guess it depends on circumstnces.
Scotty
I've been here but didn't feel the need to add anything as I agreed with a previous post. But since you've lured me in (again!)..... I've test driven the 3.2 DSG three times including once on track. It is definately quicker than a 225 but it's slower than a chipped 225. In day to day use I reckon that the 3.2 DSG would have it simply because the gearbox means you're not suffering 0.5 seconds of no power everytime you change gear. It'll be interesting to compare the manual 3.2 to the 225 when it comes out. I've been out in the 3.2 A3 to try and get an idea and I think a chipped 225 would have it. All opinions curtousey of the 'seat of the pants' measuring device.
t1mothy
Has anyone here chipped there's and kept the warranty? I read in autocar that ABT might become an authorized tunning company for Audi and VW, that would get around the warranty problem. but I can't see it happening
shao_khan
Well it was suggested to me that Audi are currently going through a type approval for ABT tuned cars - so it could happen in the near future. You can get work done at some dealers and they offer a warrenty on works they carry out, as do companies like AMD and RSD. I had all my work on my TT done by AMD - great product and good results. Next time around I would probably look at an Oettinger product only because i hear so many good things about them, and the only way to find out is to try, if they had nothing around then I'd go back to AMD. teejoo
In Belgium you can now order a new car, tuned by Abt (engine, chassis and exterior), at the dealers, and still keep full warranty.
ChadW
[ QUOTE ] Cheers lads, I have just done 1k miles so I am gonna dump the clutch at 4k rpm on the way home tonight and see. Not that it will be any sort accurate experiment [/ QUOTE ] ...hehe keep meaning to try this myself! Did you turn ESP off as well, this does burn your clutch though too, so I guess you wouldn't want to do it too often....tis great though when you whop em off the line, definately gonna get mine chiped and 'Milteked' later in the year... t1mothy
Didn't try with esp off but the 4wd is brilliant, shot off like a bullet, I have a caterham and because that wheelspins the take doesn't feel as violent as the TT. I would like to see the warranty issue change in the uk though
shao_khan
The warrenty issue will change - but i think at a cost - ABT were neevr the cheapest option around or the most convenient with having to send stuff away and lose your car for a few days. shao_khan
mine was 274.8 (or something like that) just under 275 anyway - but that was 6 or 7 cars ago now. Mine had AMD remap, Forge front mount intercooler, Forge DV, Miltek exhaust and cats replaced, Knoi shocks and H&R springs, Porsche brakes - went very well, the torque was also very impressive and from the lights it was good to keep up with most things. t1mothy
I was told chiping alone can take it to 270, that must have been a load of bull
shao_khan
I think most of the chips take the car to around 260/265, the rest just helps a bit, I dotn think the intercooler gives any more bhp - just helps you retain it when things get warm by helping keep charge temperatures down. Exhaust and cats obviouly help.
t1mothy
The 225 has two intercoolers, Have you just got one big intercooler now ?
shao_khan
Yes it replaces the two - if you look in the audi gallery here or http://www.woofdoggy.com/audi_tt.htm you can see some pics of the car, in one of the shots of the front you can see the intercooler behind the lower grill at the ffront. t1mothy
Like the black alloys they look the nuts, no pic there of the intercoller though.
shao_khan
No - in the front shot - you can just see the intercoolers silvery reflection behind the lower grill in the bumper - it replaces both of the other two. The wheels are Competition alloys that were powder coated graphite.
