Ok, have an eye on a new watch and trying to follow my one out on in (honest!).

I have for sale one lightly worn Omega Seamaster Pro 300M Chrono. You can see the link here at Goldsmiths. It is model 213.30.42.40.01.001. The Omega specification can be viewed here.

Unit comes with the box, manual, original receipt etc. and is in great condition - like I say, haven't really worn it much. It's great watch - and probably one of my favourites...It's been tough trying to work out which to get rid of :(

Anyways, they retailed about 2.4/2.5k before discounts, and the used they're going for about GBP1800. I've been offered GBP1620 by a watch specialist, so if anybody wants to match that it's yours +++

Other people here have bought numerous value items from me in the past and I'm sure they'll say that I tend to keep my stuff in great condition.

I can either special delivery to you or you can collect from the City of London.

No massive rush to sell it, but if no offers within the next couple of weeks it'll be off to the dealer.

I'm close to doing that Mac.

It's an odd one. I have a horrible feeling it was stolen when our eldest held a party and I'd left it on the kitchen table (I think). It hasn't been seen since.

However, there is a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that it could be somewhere in the house, but we've checked everywhere we can think of over the last year.

I don't really want a £2k claim on our policy if there is a chance it's in here - especially as we had an 'accident' with our dining room table that was a claim for the same amount a year ago!

Typical isn't it, that was the first time in my life I've made a home insurance claim, yet now I might have to face up to the fact we need to make another.

My nephew lost his watch. Not overly expensive but he couldn't find it after a party. They looked high and low but nothing. Then one day they were turning out the airing cupboard and there it was. After too many beers the watch got wet and he'd put it in there to dry out. Funny what beer does.

Talking about watches, I bumped into my old neighbour the other day. A Rolex repair specialist (30 years). He said the GMT II (the older version, non ceramic bezel) was now worth about £4k. And demand for the older ones was really high due to Rolex adding 14% to their prices every year! Also the ceramic version replacement parts were really expensive.

He also said that he'd been on a course at Rolex, 2 days. Cost? £10k!

The price to service watches is a massive earner for the stores. He does some of the big West End stores and watch companies. Luckily he needs his carpets cleaned regularly for red wine spills which I'm building up a credit for a service.
