"Limp home" mode...car now fine!

3 posts in this topic

Went out earlier, and after about 10 mins of driving the car wouldnt rev above 2500rpm or drive over 30.

It seemed as though I had no turbo at all.

I stopped for 10 mins to go to the shop, and when I pulled away it seemed the same, then seemed to rectify itself.

Drove to the dealer who plugged it in, but no faults were found. No warning lights appeared at any time on the dash.

Dealer said possibly a problem with the wastegate.

Only other thing they commented on was they tried to do a software upgrade but were unable to do so as the car wouldn't accept it??

Now seems to be driving fine. Booked in for a service next Saturday anyway, but with 1500 miles to do this week it doesnt fill me with confidence!!

Its a 2011 1.6TDI Bluemotion with 56k on the clock.

Any ideas?

Bluemotion

There's your problem +++

I think the telling bit is that it won't accept an update (does it need one?) and there's no error code - refer back to VW.

Aren't they very restrictive on 'upgrades' on those models? To stop people like Shark upping the power?

Maybe the dealer doesn't know what to do? Wouldn't be the first time.............
