Nav for cd orsd card without HDD

11 posts in this topic

I have purchased an audi A5 but i did not get the sat nav, instead i opted for the SD card slot as i prefer to listen to music.

My question is it possible to purchase a CD or SD card with nav for this so i can switch between music and nav or do you have to have the HDD for any type of nav?

Hi

I am confused! Do you have satnav installed? If you do, then you will already have satnav, however, if not, you will need the unit, new buttons etc etc.

No there is no sat nav installed. I was wondering is there a way to run simple sat nav software/program from an sd card or cd rom without having to intall the HDD navigation Unit

Short answer... no. Not a hope in hell that it could ever be that easy!

Almost posted in this thread the other day, I presumed it was a piss take.

You are asking if you can put a tiny SD card into the dash to give you sat nav? Have you not spotted you are missing a whole raft of buttons and controls behind the gearstick compared to most other A5s.....

I think he has hoping for an alternative option to the Audi Nav, and that he could load a nav programme onto the system, like you can a lot of aftermarket stuff.

Unfortunately I really can't see it working, I'm sure the system has the hardware capable of running a nav programme, but you can't access the operating system to do so.

Which buttons were thinking of?

Why use 6 words when you can use 5? :P
