bazza_g
Just pootling along in traffic through Chertsey I imagine on its way to/from Woking - in black, didn't twig what it was at first - looks awesome and much smaller that I thought on the road. The rear is an amazing combo of curves - unfortunately it was going opposite way to me so no blurred iphone photo!
Andrew
Bound to see it past our office at some point - we seem to be on the route Macca use.
Woppum
I so wanted to like the brand of Macca but their first car, the mp12 IMHO was totally off the mark. It was supposed to be the everyday Supercar that excelled both and the road and on track. A Porsche with more street cred or a Ferrari with the reliability and qualitity. I no my opinion it hit way off the mark and in ways was a contradiction to its core values. Getting in and out the Mclaren is madness, it has such wide carbn side sills you have to roll out each way, and those doors are not for car parks. That in a car that can be as quiet as a mouse and as smooth as an s class. When you turn the car up to 11, yes it's fast but there is no real connection t the car or the road. The gear changes just make a click and your there, the noise all comes through the speaks, and really isn't that great and the power just comes on in a big woooosh. There are so many things I wanted to like about the Mclaren, especially the discount on nearly new cars and the brittish pedigree but it just does not deliver any excitement or joy of ownership. I see this new car as the same but turned up to 10. I'm sure it will be faster than everything , but when can you really enjoy that, the m12 is too fast already, even at silverstone! Sadly like a bucrappi I think this is more an engeneering feat that a drivers car. From what I hear the car is undersold and the majority of the depositors are pulling out. May be wrong but well oversold laferrari it ain't. And I'm not suddenly a Ferrari whore! Edited July 10, 2013 by Woppum
bazza_g
And I'm not suddenly a Ferrari whore! There are worse things to be in life ;-) ....! The comment about the LaFerrari is valid, mad car, mad price, mad restrictions on who can buy one and its still sold out - thats some great business
Woppum
Really shows the power of the brand, which really all stems from the product. It is very hard to knock the poncey towers at Ferrari !
CarMad
I think I'd like the Mclaren, A 12c because its not a fully on drivers car maybe and that it can help me drive better than I can. I go past the dealer and see them most days up here and they look great that and the name would be enough for me. You don't need rational thought to buy a supercar thats not really what they are about. Clarkson did a review of the 12C spider and compared it to the 458 and for once I agreed with him that both were very very good cars and neither was poor just that they appealed to different audiences. Woppum
They certainly do. Know many a chap who raves about the mp12, but also reckon he dances to songs of praise on a Sunday in his birthday suit and walks to work on his hands and knees. Andrew
One of these (a Macca P1) just wafted past my office window. In silver with what looked like a bloody great big wing on the back. No mistaking that big central exhaust - no real noise though. Looked fairly innocuous as it hove into view. Makes a nice change from the MP4-12Cs that parade past. Andrew
This one just pootled past: McLaren P1 Prototype Spotted at Gas Station in the U.K Bored now. Would rather be on the Ferrari test run route.
Scotty
Not the most subtle colour! More a "look at me" thing particularly if you drive it on a sunny Sunday up Mulholland Highway. Â
bazza_g
Not sure I ever posted this photo I took in September last year, P1 parked up in a bus stop - heading towards Woking.
garcon magnifique
Wouldn't you just love to open the passenger door and say, "Town, please."
Tipex
When I was at the Electrical wholesalers, we had a van driver, older chap, who used to be a bus driver, he would regularly pull in to bus stops in the van, and wait for people to get in. Apparantly, according to his wife, he did it in his car sometimes as well!
