Chrisryder
Does anyone know if or when the new A3 saloon will be available with the 2.0 TFSI engine? The 180PS 1.8T isn't quite enough and the 300PS S3 in 2014 is more than I need, 210ish would be just right.
Ian_C
Was only wondering this the other day. In the A4 the 1.8 and 2.0 share nigh identical engines, no doubt the same would be true in the A3. Audi *could* easily introduce a 2.0 badged A3 if they wanted to - there are 220/225 PS variants in the 2012- A4 and 2013- Mk7 Golf GTi Audi making quattro available on the 1.8 180 PS would suggest they weren't going to bother building a 2.0, especially given the present generation 1.8 TFSI now makes over 200 lb ft (210-215 lb ft?) with all its modern tech, variable valve lift, exhaust manifold cooling pre turbo etc etc The S3 being a lofty 300 PS would make room for a 220 PS A3, however my gut feeling would be no 2.0 bar the S3 (watch as Audi now launch it this week haha.........) Twinspark
Hard to understand the A3 saloon range - it came a bit too late for me - but I'd have loved a 184bhp diesel with DSG.
Ian_C
Agreed, Audi clearly haven't quite finished introducing all the new models. Presently you can have the 184 bhp diesel in quattro with the DSG box, and in fwd with a manual box - but not as a quattro manual or a fwd DSG. Go figure!?
