Lamborghini has confirmed it is to put the Veneno roadster into limited production. Just nine versions of the Venero roadster will be built, costing £2.79m each.

The Venero roadster has no roof, and Lamborghini says the “design is focused on optimum aerodynamics and stability through fast corners – with handling akin to that of a racing prototype. Yet it is fully road legal”.

It is powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 developing 740 bhp mated to a semi-automatic gearbox with five shift modes. Power is sent to all four wheels. Lamborghini claims a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 sec with a top speed of 220 mph for the 1490 kg hypercar.

The front end is said to act as a huge wing and the car’s flat underbody incorporates a “sizeable” rear diffuser. Other aero kit includes an adjustable rear wing and a carbonfibre ring around the wheels that create a turbine effect providing cooling to the brake discs.

The “Red Veneno” paint was developed specifically for the Veneno roadster, although customers are able to specify other shades.

The car is based around a carbonfibre reinforced polymer monocoque which Lamborghini says is further evidence of its ability to work with CFRP. The chassis is visible from the cabin, and the seats are formed from lightweight forged composite, a material patented by Lamborghini. The interior is trimmed in carbonfibre “CarbonSkin” fibre.

:D Lamborghini really are great big bunch of pi$$ takers, they managed to seperate 3 mugs from 3 million Euros each for the super limited edition hard top version (which is an Aventador with a stupid suit on)....

Now they chop the roof off and are trying to seperate another 9 mugs from €3 million euros each.

Instead of messing about with these they'd have been better off putting the effort into speeding up the replacement of the now 'ancient' Gallardo....

As you know, they'll easily sell them Mr B!

Plenty of mugs about these days!

Trying to put some 'space' (read £$£$£$£$) between them and Ferrari?
