Andy_Bangle
It's gone up a bit since yesterday when it was 295 pp - now showing as 321 pp on www.turkishairlines.com but thats still pretty cheap as the normal price is over 500.. Search in November, which is one of the best months to go as the manic heat of HK summer should be over. I've attached a 'dummy ticket' for you. BTW: Those prices won't last, I reckon all tickets will be snapped up in the next day or two. Ticket rules: Category 8: Stopover restrictions 2 STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT - 1 IN EACH DIRECTION IN IST AT EUR 30.00 EACH. Category 14: Travel restrictions VALID FOR TRAVEL COMMENCING ON/BEFORE 30NOV 15. Category 15: Sales restrictions TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/BEFORE 05MAR 15. Tipex
So I have to take the details to a travel agent? wonder if they'll add a charge to that? Either way, it's still cheap, I might book that tomorrow if I can get in touch with Mrs T's sister and confirm she'll be about.
Andy_Bangle
No, just go to turkish airlines website and book direct I printed your quote out from a system that the airlines use hence you not being able to book it direct, it's the backend to their websites. http://www.turkishairlines.com/ If you use Topcashback you'll get 3.67% cashback. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/turkish-airlines/ So I have to take the details to a travel agent? wonder if they'll add a charge to that?.

Tipex
Do you think it's worth having a few hours in Istanbul, or would it just be a few hours mooching about in the airport bored? We can leave on the earlier Gatwick flight, but the Istanbul - HK flight is the same one, so we either have an hour to make the connection, or 6 hours. Tipex
Oh, and recommended seats for both flights? Edit: Scratch that, and the Turkey bit, opted for shortest travel time, I've booked now, can't choose seats until 10th August. Many thanks, Mrs T will be over the moon that she gets to visit her sister, in HK. I've been before, and obviously Mrs T's sister lives there, but any must do's much appreciated. There is a chance I may actually use the opportunity to pop the question to the 'not actually Mrs' T. I was thinking about doing it in New York as we're off there just before Xmas, but HK is something a bit different and less cliched than New York. Tipex
Oh, and any idea what this line is all about- You may apply to the nearest Turkish Airlines Office to take your electronic invoice document which is accepted as an official invoice by Turkish Law. Shortest layover in IST was the best option, the IST-HKG-IST flights are overnight so you should be able to get a few hours kip. You grabbed a bargain airfare there, those sale tickets are at least 200 quid pp cheaper than normal, 400 pp cheaper than Emirates on the same dates and Turkish are one of Europe's better airlines. I was thinking about doing it in New York as we're off there just before Xmas, but HK is something a bit different and less cliched than New York. The LGW - IST will be on an Airbus 321 with a 3 - 3 config whilst the IST - HKG - IST on a 777 with a 3-3-3 config which isn't to bad, some airlines are now rolling out 10 across on the 777 making it 3-4-3, which is plane nasty! All seat are basically the same, just avoid the last row of each section as the seats don't tend to recline due to either the toilets being behind them or and emergency exit. I got stuck in the last row of a 777 on a flight to Toronto - no recline for 9 hours and some huge Canadian bloke next to me taking up most of my seat too. Choose your seats as soon as the options opens up - 100 days in advance? and make sure you pick any kids / special meals. I think Bazza will be the best person for HK info, IIRC he's there quite a bit. Ignore that, it's a business tax thing.
Andrew
Great offer. Edi LHR return is £570 full fare. Ridiculous until you realise Edi is the busiest outstation for the hallowed exec club "Premier" member.
Tipex
Yup, I couldn't not book it really, £640 return for myself and the Mrs to fly to Hong Kong, bargain. Ok so we're in cattle class but I can deal with it, it's not like it's going to be packed with chavs and screaming kids like a Thomson or Easyjet flight. We have free accommodation on Lantau whilst there if we need it, but I'll likely book a hotel anyway, as Mrs T doesn't really get on very well with her sisters partner, I think he's a bit of a bell end but I can put with him. Andy_Bangle
If you want to escape the SIL for a day or two then i'd recommend taking the high-speed ferry across to Macau, the Las Vegas of China. Apparently it's the worlds richest city (and gambling capital of the world), it's not the place for a weeks holiday but great for a day trip or overnight visit to see the old and new buildings and to shop.
