cruiser647
Yes, I know they are old, but this was the 1.8 V6 version with a slightly larger exhaust. Made a lovely, lovely sound as matey was in a hurry. Did they ever stick it in the MX5?
Tipex
I'm sure someone has, but Mazda never did. A mate of mine used to have one, paid about £600 for it, rusty, tatty old thing, not very fast and understeered like mad, but as you say, you could forgive it all of that for the sound it made when you put your foot down! garcon magnifique
Whatever happened to the Mazda Xedos? And the MX6? Did they all just rust away?
Tipex
I think the Xedos suffered from the same problem as a lot of 'executive' cars without the right badge, horrendous depreciation, and hence falling in to the hands of those that don't care, or can't spend, the money required to keep them in decent nick. As for the MX6, it was always just a bit, shit, being FWD and not comparable with it's peers such as the Nissan 200Sx.

The Xedos 9 was quite a looker for a big saloon and the 6 had some quirky looks, but was distinctive!
NewNiceMrMe
Whatever happened to the Mazda Xedos? And the MX6? Did they all just rust away? MrsMe had a Xedos6 2.0 V6 as a company car for 18 months (they were really odd with the badging - Mazda dealers insisted the badge didn't have a gap between the name and number!). It was deep red metallic (burgundy) with cream leather trim (really, really lovely soft ruffled leather) and the engine was as smooth as whipped cream. It was a truly lovely car to drive, was packed with gadgets and if you were to ask her to list her past cars in order of most remembered - that would be very high up the list. Whilst the figures might not be very impressive if you were to look at them today (I can't remember but it was about 150 bhp) it was very impressive back then. It was a very swift car but the ride was even better. It soaked anything up that you threw at it. I haven't seen one in a very, very long time but can say it was a car we both loved and were very sad to see it go. Some b*stard nicked it. Twinspark
I remember the rhubarb and custard coloured BTCC Xedos6.
garcon magnifique
There's one on Autotrader, exactly as you describe (burgundy/cream leather). It's one of those rare finds - 1996 on a P, full service history, only 75000 miles, looks spotless (and very shiny), probably the pride and joy of one, maybe two geriatric owners. 12 months ticket. £799. If it's still there next week it's on my 18-30 reserve list!
garcon magnifique
Even better, there's a beige Xedos9 2.3i 'Miller'. Looks pretty decent, couple of bubbly arches, excellent inside ..... 500 quid.

That's the supercharged one, yes? Moot point, as if it has bubbling arches, it'll be shot to pieces elsewhere. It's the Mazda way.
garcon magnifique
Yeah - no mention of MoT date on that one funnily enough!
Twinspark
That 6 looks really very nice. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201405124140738/
cruiser647
We are all being deprived of these lovely small capacity V6s. NNMM - lovely colour that burgundy!
CarMad
I went to have a look at one with my Dad, it certainly sounded nice and was very smooth but it was small. The rear seat space was properly tiny compared to the Mazda 6 of the time it was huge by comparison and wasn't bad looking either. I think he ended up with a 3 series, can't remember.
