cruiser647
In white with absolutely NO rust (on the sides of it that I saw........) And it was moving, under it's own steam!
NewNiceMrMe
Fantastic to see. Shit car, of course.
Arch
I had a black one. 2.0 EFi, 87 D plate. Was pretty quick in a straight line. I wanted one as a mates Dad had one and he told me it could do 135mph. Yeh, 'eventually' maybe.
NewNiceMrMe
I liked the Turbo, genuinely. I'm lucky I never bought one though.
Tipex
I had a Montego Turbo, you don't know what torque steer is until you've driven one, there is literally nothing else on the road that torque steers like a Monty Turbo. Mine ended up ingesting it's own engine oil in a massive cloud of smoke outside Tesco until the engine seized.
Cuprabob
I used to go out with a girl whose Dad had a MG Maestro. Used to drive it now and again Did feel quite quick but always seemed to be having wheel bearings replaced, not to.mentuon the dash and the speech synthesis:-) Edited March 26, 2015 by Cuprabob
Booster
Our next door neighbours won a Montego Si. It was a kind of sportyesqe model that was all mouth and absolutely no trousers. I remember us all being jealous of them with their "modern" car whilst we were in a T reg Cavalier!

And the wierdo dash. My Ren 25 had speech, and it was perfect! And we all know the Senator/Astra GTE had the best digital dashes around!
Tipex
My brother had a Renault 25 with the speech thingy. Naturally being a Renault, it had a myriad of electrical problems, and just constantly repeated "the left rear door is ajar". Incidentally, one of my customers has an absolutely mint 25 V6, it wants for nothing, I'd love to take it off their hands one day and thrash the living daylights out of it, it's almost certainly never been above 3k rpm or 60mph. Both of my Ren 25 were the 2.2 GTX version, mk I & Mk II. Absolutely no electicial issues with either of them. Just couldn't stretch to the V6s. In that case it was certainly not ours from the C2C trip making a return from the dead....

E-bmw
Cruiser, I think it was the Carlton GSi that also had the digital dash, I had a 12v & 24v Senator in the day & both were normal analogue displays. Cracking car though, when you drove one of them, you realised why the rozzers used them for so long.
E-bmw
I tried a Montego turbo too Mr T & you are 100% correct, you could virtually drive round a roundabout on the torque steer alone! Even worse than a Chavalier SRi!

cruiser647
The CD Senators had the digi dash. Not sure if it was an option, but both of my CDs had them.
E-bmw
I am sure you must be right then, neither of my Cds did.
garcon magnifique
I can't remember whether my 24V CD did. I still mourn the loss of that car though. They were flawed in many ways, but it's still definitely in the top 3 of my past cars.
E-bmw
Absolutely agree GM, my current cars are both better in certain ways, but not the complete package & they are both much younger.
