Bad driving, too much power, slippy surface, rear end comes out, goes over the central reservation, knackers the wheel, tries to regain control but the wheel is coming off - bang, off it comes.  The end.

p.s. I had a very similar incident in Scotland on ride out with a number of people (some of whom are on here) and TP27 will tell you he watched a 6 series start to go on a long straight road, alongside a loch with low kerbs and a big drop, and I only just (as in heart-stopping 'just') managed to get it back in time (and it was more luck than skill, without doubt).

Ah yes, Lumpy the Heffalump (not me) on the dashboard.  That poor creature endured some 'events'. :roflmao:

When the 6 went, it really went and TP27 will remember how much slippy-icy-snow-looking (possibly was snow but I'm not going to say and condemn myself completely!), was on the road at X miles per hour.

I had my foot down with so much force it was going through the floor in an attempt to get it back and it was sheer luck that it snapped back at the last moment.

I've rolled a couple of cars in my much younger days, but nothing comes close to the feeling I had sliding towards a kerb, a big drop and certain death in a freezing Loch below.  Life gives us second-chances now and again, and that was mine.

Makes me realise it's about time we had another Trip !!!

Are we all driving Hybrids nowadays - better make it short bursts so we can stop at every Windfarm to boost the charge! In the old days, it was a list of Fuel Depots selling V-Power !!!!

My tour/trip/meet days are over.  They were fun (or at least I thought they were), but not for me any more.

I can't remember the last time I did any driving for the fun of it.  It may well have been CE2008 ("The Sunny One") the year after the escape from death mentioned above.  I could do the whole of the CE runs on a single tank nowadays and have 250 miles left to spare. :roflmao:

I still do regular trips TP. Off round Glen Schee and the Lecht with some BMW Zed mates next weekend.

Ideal Jim, have fun - I did the Inverness via Dingwall to Applecross road last summer when I got the new R - it was stunning and reminded of trips in the past !!  +++
