chasdrury
Not a holiday but a business trip-has anyone flown to MEX from the UK before? Any ideas which routes are best? I can fly mexicoair direct or via Europe with lufthansa, klm or air france. Ticket will be business - any advice welcomed....

chasdrury
Seems as though no-one else has been brave enough! I had an email this afternoon from the a director of the company. "Mexico City is a 2.5hr drive from our offices. For safety reasons we must reserve your ttransfer." Joy!

Andy_Bangle
I'd avoid mexair, KLM / AF and Fly Lufthansa via Frankfurt - MEX - its on a 747-8i which is very nice place to be plus you get access to the Frankfurt biz lounge or you can fly BA direct from London and maybe get a free first class upgrade http://747-8.lufthansa.com/#/b747/experience/business attach an example route. I had thought to go LH, my points card is star alliance so most travel is with them. Looks like i'll go MAN to Munich then to MEX on way out because of flight times, which is on an A340 I think? Are they nice enough with LH? I'll fly back to Frankfurt on the 747... should I take upper deck or main deck for bus on the way back?
Andy_Bangle
In P or Z class you should be earning 200% miles so that will be nice and they have good showers and booze in the Senator lounge Pros and cons of upstairs v downstairs. Downstairs has more noise and people walking about, upstairs is more exclusive as there's less seats (4 across) although can be slightly claustrophobic due to the shape of the bubble. Also you won't be offload first like those downstairs in business. also from what I've read, the all LH Munich based A340-600 fleet should feature the new business class, so flat beds Edited April 25, 2015 by Andy_Bangle

My last issue is that I land at 4am local tim in Mexico City and have a 3 hour car journey to work. There is no arrivals lounge inn MEX! D'oh.... Andy_Bangle
Check in to the airport hotel on arrival, shower, breakfast, 40 winks and get work to pick you up at noon
chasdrury
Cheers for all the advice, Andy. Booked Manchester - Munich - Mexico - Frankfurt - Manchester all with Lufthansa A340 outbound, 747-8 return. 4.5k euro which isn't too bad either...
