So, Valencia then...

Both Repsol Honda riders were under orders from the HRC Management to take a 1-2.  Whatever Marquez may think about Rossi I don't think he would go against what the team has instructed him to do just to help Lorenzo.

He could start burning effigies of Shuhei Nakamoto in the garage on the practice day of each race and HRC aren't going to get rid of MM!

What this does do is make next year even more exciting. Pedrosa back on form and some massive rivalries. Also possibly Rossi's last chance to get the 10th.

^ This.  Next season will be epic if Dani can stay fit and on form.  The rumour mill is putting a certain Mr Stoner as Ducati's test rider next year too!

I'd have thought his big crash would have reinforced that retirement was good. However at his age and as an ultra-competitive guy he has a lot of years of life to fill.

Just seen this Lorenzo quote !!

“The hardest part of the race was to see Pedrosa get very close. I thought I would run the risk of ending up third and lost the Championship, but in the end, they surely realized that there was a lot at stake for me, maybe in another type of race they could risk more and pass me. Instead they were very good because the title would remain in Spain. I always try to be honest, the truth is that I did a race in which I gave my best always, however sincerely today the Honda, it was very difficult to always keep the concentration and stand in front of them. They are Spanish like me and knew what was at stake, so I benefited because maybe without that little help, maybe considering that Valentino did a great race comeback from last to fourth place, he could win the Championship. So this title is mine, it is ours, but also of Spain.”

Absolutely. It's set to be gripping. Rossi last chance; personally, I think he's just had his last attempt. I genuinely can't see it.

Epic. Legend. He alone was instrumental in my fascination for Moto GP.

I didn't think he had this year in him!

Things could have been so different for him. Reckon he'll re-live the last few weeks of this season until the day he departs theses shores

Yup completing the laps after the incident must have felt like a million years. Riding on his own with it all going through his head knowing what he was gonna ride into when he got to pit lane.

Can't wait to see the Spanish love in collapse after the first race. My wish is for VR to win it but I'd also like to see DP wipe the floor with the other two lovers.

VR played the wrong hand with his verbals but was proved right in the end. No matter how good JL and MM are, I've lost respect for them both now.

Is that Dr Who (John Pertwee) fuelling the pyre?

That's interesting. Must say, I'm the polar opposite. I have lost the respect I had for a racer that could have been the GOAT. That accolade will, at some stage in the future, fall on the shoulders of Rossi's nemeses, and that's inevitable really.

Yep  ;)

Nope - it's Tom Baker.   Who was also Dr Who at some point after john Pertwee.

Strangely enough, that's who I meant...

Pertwee was Worzel Gummidge, who still freaks me out to this day.
