Bunch of wusses.

(actually, I'm amazed it took them that long. Just a piece of gravel ****ing stings at 100mph, a piece of debris at their speed doesn't bear thinking about and has proven to be scary already)

I can see why they want, I'd be concerned for getting a driver our when the car flips over. Normally the car ends up stopping to once side and the driver has room to crawl out, they are going to find it quite difficult to do that with this.

Always good to improve safety some of the comments on that link seem a little short sighted to me.

I don't like it, but then I'm not the one sat in car with bits of Maldonados car flying at my head.

Safety innit, can't really argue with that.

Interesting point, we could be preparing the ground for another Niki Lauda moment?

Indeed which is very rare with todays systems but certainly not impossible.

The screen if they went to that will not be an easy one to deliver either many things to solve before they can add that.

This is why I'm a little concerned about this. I'm not entirely confident that they won't engineer in a few new risks in their attempts to resolve the open cockpit risk. If it's thoroughly researched and designed then any reasonable safety improvement is a good thing. If.

Surely the only solution to an enclosed cockpit (with or without a roof, as it's largely irrelevant if you are upside down) is to fit doors?

In which case, we might as well watch LM or GT instead, which to be fair, would be a lot more interesting.
