Mook
I came across this completely by accident, but thought it might help some of you out, especially if you travel to or through France for your holidays like we do each summer - or even work over there For now, it's just in major cities like Paris and Lyon, but by law in France from 31 March 2017, you must have a certificate in your windscreen, or risk a fine if you travel into one of the cities on the list. It'll doubtless expand later on. http://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-news/law-change-for-uk-drivers-in-french-cities/ You can now apply for one here - they just updated the site yesterday to allow non French registered vehicles to obtain one. Just use Google Chrome and use the auto translate option... https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/demande-ext/cgu/

Tipex
Right pain in the arse having to upload a copy of your V5 and send as an attachment, but at least it's cheap! Think I'll get away without one this year as not venturing into any major French Cites, and travelling to the South via Spain, might just get one anyway if I can be bothered to dig out my scanner. Payement for example. I'll have to hold off a few days I only just got my new car so the V5C hasn't arrived yet.
burble
I've just applied for the certificate. It's not the smoothest application process I've ever seen - you need to upload a copy of the V5C which is fair enough but it'll only take a 200Kb file maximum and it has to be a PNG or JPG. Why not just accept a big fat PDF? That would have saved me a bit of time having to convert then resize.
burble
Well they're not exactly quick to send out the certificate. I applied for mine almost 2 months ago and it arived today with a post mark of Friday.
