bazza_g
Does anyone know if "New Reg" and "RegTransfers" are one and the same company ? I've just been having a look for a private plate for the gf and have found a suitable one but its up for sale on both websites - I know a lot of these outfits are just selling whats already available on the DVLA website and making their cut, but the plate in question isn't available direct from the DVLA ? Riz
They might have bought the plate off a private seller or bought it off DVLA knowing that they could sell it on easily. They are overpriced in my opinion but if they have the plate then its hard. Riz
bazza_g
I know what you mean, they are a ripoff and I'd always buy direct from the DLVA is possible but I was curious as to how these two companies were advertising the same plate if it wasn't coming via the DVLA ? Colin M
Those companies also list plates they know exist for a guess at market price then approach the owner if they get an interested punter. I know this cos they listed my P2RKA plate which I owned then later sold to a guy to put on his Porka and AFAIK, he still has that plate yet it's on newreg. Talking of plates, saw a big black Audi (new grille A6/A8 thing with tinted windows) on the M25 exiting at the A30 today displaying P1LOT.
Riz
They might well be the same companies, the more sites they have the more the potential of a sale. or a seller has told these companies to sell his/her plate for a commission? Colin M
Not seen it in the car park, plenty of "747" and "777" plates alongside all the "BOX" ones on the pilots porkers. One of our guys even had P1TOY on his 911 cab (P1 is pilot speak for Captain).

Tturbo
P1LOT is from my area (leeds). He must keep a plane or helicopter at LBA because it's quite often parked near the private hanger up there.
bradeywalker
New Reg and Regtransfers are two different companies, the reason why the same reg would be on two sights is that the owner of the reg has decided to sell the reg via both companies probably to get greater exposure. I have a few registrations that are being advertised by several companies.

maddenmark
Newreg had a plate I was interested in but I quite simply was not buying it from him. Complete rip off, so I bought an alternative one direct from DVLA - E1 MAM, got it for GBP£1,499.00, New reg wanted GBP£1,866.33.
simonb
You can sell your own plate via these companies. It may be that a private individual is trying to get rid of the plate via both - they'd be paid commission if they did get rid for the private concerned. Saw a plate yesterday, Merc ML - 'P14 Y**' followed by a small 'Playboy' rabbit sticker that looked like a Y. Therefore, P14Y**Y. No point in me saying what the ** was. Interesting plate - driven by a gangster looking type. Was outside a house near Poulton le Fylde.
shark_90
I just got my reg from National Numbers - they were the cheapest I could find and handled the transfer for me. I saved about 300 quid after searching for a week
shark_90
Although looking back at the DVLA website.. there are some similar plates to mine that I remember being priced as the same as mine elsewhere that now show as £999 including VAT and the assignment fee Oh well, at least I only paid a £90 premium, if indeed I did!
