ajh
Has anyone had experience of remapping the 3cyl 75hp Polo engine? Revo appear to have just released their version, which claims to give 108hp - what do you think?
R32North
a 44% increase in power form a 3 cyl n/a engine... in a word, NAH! Thats a HUGE power hike for such a wee engine. Someones at it with the marketing hype me thinks!!!
Depresion
R32 I think he's talking about the 3pot TDi as isn't the 75bhp petrol a 4 cyl 1.4 16v de tuned lump. Asuming that then 45% is about in line with the rest of the TDi range from them. I have heard good reports on the 130PS PD TDi in the fabia going to 180. R32North
Ahhh, I think you are right! TDi is a different story.... but still anyone who can get a 44% power hike from a remap on a 3cyl engine is doing very well. Thing to always remember tho' that its not outright power that always best, its how it drives..... Only one way to find out tho !!!!
ajh
Sorry - should have pointed out it was the PD engine! A mate's wife has one and it sounds like fun with the extra bhp! Comment about the drivability is a good one - will advise him to ask for a trial before committing to the extra insurance etc. Cheers!
R32North
The insurance thing can be an issue as your over 25% hike in power. Most of the insurance companies I've spoken to about chipping are cool with power increase up to 25% over that and its hellish on the premiums or a no go! Especially as its such a wee car and the difference that 40%+ power and torque increase will make will be prett dman impressive. It'll be a wee sooty-flyer
shao_khan
Never seen anyone get much past 100bhp from these before. Thing you will need to watch with such a rise is the number of clutches that it might eat, it can happen on Golf TDis if they get too much power out of them.
