Mk IV 2.0 8 valve

4 posts in this topic

Has anyone noticed the engine juddering on the Mk IV GTi. The dealership i got it from says it's quite normal for this car. It happens most whilst stationary, can even feel it through the pedals.

Any help on this one would be appreciated??

I have had a couple of 2.0 Beeltes and neither suffered this that I can recal, same engine as the GTi so I would expect to feel the same problems.

Sounds like dealer speak for "Cant be bothered to look".

Engines shouldn't judder at all! Maybe if you've got some great hairy cam ina V8 you might feel a vibration and judder when idling, but not a 2.0l 4 pot engine.

It should be smooth and quiet!

Dealerr is talking pants, go to another dealership and see what they say!!!!

I had a similar problem with a 2.0 8V MK3 GTI, it juddered when idle etc and gave off blue smoke as if it was burning oil badly (even though it only had 30K on the clock). Took it to the dealer and it was some ECU/regulator problem which was quite common. Can't recall exactly what they replaced as it was a fair few years ago now!! confused.gif
